Description


American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the leading payment provider for corporations and small businesses with products and services to help them run and grow their business. Within GCS, our Global and US Large (G&L) Enterprises segment services our largest and most valuable Commercial clients.

We are seeking a dynamic leader to elevate and advance our Commercial thought leadership by transforming our Global Insights and Advisory team. This new team will be responsible for providing scaled thought leadership, across a breadth of channels, and personalized recommendations through 1:1 client engagement and scaled insights products. The team will support our clients, field organization, and marketing/PR teams by surfacing, analyzing, and communicating insightful and compelling, data-driven content in emerging topics areas, such as travel, expense management, sustainability, and B2B payments. Additionally, the new team will leverage their industry and client expertise to inform our product roadmap and bring more relevant, innovative products to market.


Seeking the following:

  • Visionary change agent with the ability to establish the mission, structure, and engagement model for an evolving team

  • Forward Looking Thinker with Data and Analytics Expertise ready to prioritize key emerging questions and drive a team to interrogate proprietary data to surface the ‘so what’ and extract the key insights and trends that bring a fresh perspective to our clients and industry

  • Compelling Storyteller with the ability to develop persuasive narrative and engaging content to elevate our thought leadership brand and impact with external senior level contacts.

  • Curious Problem Solver who takes a structured and hypothesis driven approach to address emerging client needs by bringing together external research, proprietary data, and client level inputs to deliver impactful insights and recommendations

  • Industry Thought Leader that can build on their knowledge of the B2B travel and expense categories to bring together various sources of information to provide thought provoking content and a unique point of view

  • Strong Leader with the ability to lead, influence and inspire direct and indirect colleagues to perform at the highest level


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a team through change and ambiguity with a keen interest in coaching/developing high-performing colleagues

  • Significant experience translating data and information into actionable, thought-provoking insights and narratives

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to identify emerging issues/needs and synthesize data from multiple sources to create impactful business insights and thought leadership

  • Passion for business travel and/or expense management with a good understanding of the evolution of the travel industry and commercial payments landscape

  • Prior external management/strategy/research consulting or internal strategy experience is a plus

  • Prior financial services, payments or commercial payments experience is a plus


Educational requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • MBA or equivalent is a plus

Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
