PROJECT MANAGER - ENGINEER - HEALTHCARE GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS

Seeking motivated and (CM/PM) Project Manager with engineering experience and education to join us on projects at the VA Medical Center DC Construction Program. Candidates will report to a Program Manager as well as collaborate and assist VA client staff to provide data, generate reports, as a representative for the client on major healthcare construction project.

Responsibilities:

Project Managers will provide decisive guidance and direction in regard to the management of technical aspects of engineering related to building structures. Is responsible for the overall management, in terms of technical quality, cost and schedule. Project Managers will be required to learn and implement industry, client, and internal company best practices related to project delivery, budget, schedule, quality and operations in the healthcare environment. Project Managers will require experience leading and mentoring a team of professionals and experience as an advisor/liaison with the client (user groups, design team, contractors, and facility engineering representatives). The CM services will be used to support traditional Design-Bid-Build and Design/Build contracts. A summary of the major tasks is below.

  • Develop Space and Capital Asset Management Policy and Programs regarding the efficient and effective utilization of existing space and developing new space to VA Design Guide Standards.
  • Work closely with medical and administrative staff to determine optimum locations and size of clinical and administrative spacing to meet evolving health care requirements.
  • Exhibit expertise in the utilization of a variety of database/drafting programs, space and asset management systems, such as SCIP, CAI, AEMS/MERS Space File, VISTA Fileman, CAD/BIM/Revit, Vlogic iDrawings, FM Systems/FM Interact, and SEPG PFD.
  • Provide full scope project management duties in a variety of construction, repair and maintenance contracts involving civil, architectural, electrical and mechanical-systems and components.
  • Perform or direct surveys and investigations to establish baseline data necessary to initiate design.

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensing: None Required
  • Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited University.
  • Experience: 7 years of experience in architecture and construction management of buildings and structures. Familiarity with healthcare, scheduling, cost estimating, and overall design integration is necessary. Professional experience should also include ability to review and resolve engineering issues associated with construction and specification documents.
  • Leadership: Must possess the skillset and competency to supervise and manage personnel of diverse skillsets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Federal projects and with the VA in particular.
  • Licensed engineer (higher preference if licensed in MD, VA, DC, or WV)
  • CCM, PMP certifications
