The VP, Payment Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of operational and transactional activities within our Payments Operations units, including Wire Transfer, Electronic Transactional Services (ACH) and International Banking Operations. The individual is responsible for oversight of operational processes and controls, staff training and development, budget, and project implementations related to the operational units. This individual serves as a key stakeholder in the strategy, development, and deployment of operational and core technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the oversight of the Wire Transfer team which manages all wire transfer related functions for the Bank. Activities include: all aspects of domestic and foreign US dollar and foreign currency wire transfer transactions, foreign drafts, sweep’s, scheduled wires and draw-down activity, and balancing of daily transactions to G/L and FED. Responsible for Bank’s Wire Policy, training requirements and adherence standards.
  • Responsible for the oversight of operational functions of Online Banking and related cash management services, including but not limited to Automated Clearing House (ACH) related services. Team activities include setup and maintenance of online banking products and services, setup and maintenance of all ACH related products and services. ETS team is also responsible for all processing, balancing, management and regulatory compliance of ACH transactions.
  • Responsible for the daily operations of all aspects of FX and Trade Banking operations. Activities include foreign exchange payments, multicurrency account transactions, and associated reconciliations. Also, FX loan transaction processing, as well as trade banking-related activities. Ensures various deadlines internally and externally are met. Coordinates with internal teams as well as various vendors to resolve issues and ensure timely processing of customer transactions.
  • Develop and coach staff within the departments. Lead workflow and efficiency efforts within the department/division.
  • Develop internal alliances with stakeholders for a more effective end to end operational process.
  • Develops and maintains operating budget for multiple cost centers.
  • Identify opportunities of improvement and lead specialized projects.
  • Manage audit and risk activities for these areas. Execute on Monitoring and Control Testing Requirements.
  • Maintain effective BCM, Compliance, Vendor and Risk programs and assessments within each unit.
  • Serve as Primary Payment Operations Operational Impact Team member
  • Serve as member of the Bank’s High Transaction Risk Committee
  • Serve as member of the Bank’s BCM Committee
  • Serve as a member of the Bank’s Cyber Security Committee
  • Manage the utilization of core and related applications for deposit, claims and reconciliation related processing and product parameters. Continuous evaluation of the department’s technologies effectiveness utilization and risk rating. Lead project associated with implementation or integration of deposit processing related technologies.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Knowledge of banking operations of a financial institutions including regulatory requirements, best practices, key processes, controls and product development.
  • Technical knowledge of core banking systems, payment systems, and other applications used to support and improve operational efficiency and processing effectiveness.
  • The candidate must be highly organized, motivated and demonstrate the ability to think creatively and critically and problem solve. Ability and willingness to drive change.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • The incumbent should possess strong communication and organization skills as well as strong customer service skills and knowledge of general accounting principles. Attention to detail is required as well as the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. They must be able to work effectively as part of a team and confident on presenting results to management

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Graduate degree or relevant professional designation preferred.
  • 5-7 Years of operations experience gained from working within a financial institution.
  • Solid Financial Institution knowledge: products, services, and operational workflow.
