Warehouse Assistant Supervisor - 3rd shift Job at Kayem Foods

Summary:

This position reports to the 3nd shift Warehouse Supervisor. You will be responsible for assisting in the supervision of the 10 -20 third shift employees, promoting the company META continuous improvement quality system and maintaining the safety and sanitation of 35,000 sq. ft. of refrigerated warehouse and dock space. Responsibilities include training employees, performing all essential warehouse duties as needed, planning and assigning work as directed.

Requirements:

This position requires the ability to interact and communicate well with others and is responsible for the smooth and timely fulfillment of all assigned Kayem customer orders on a daily basis. Daily communication with all departments within Kayem Foods is essential. Close working relationship with other warehouse and manufacturing supervisors and their staff is a must to accomplish daily tasks. Must have the ability to ensure that established effective warehouse and shopping procedures are followed while meeting quality, safety, sanitation and productivity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be added and/or assigned as needed.

  • Inspect the physical condition of warehouse and equipment
  • Prepares work orders for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
  • Monitors inventory by observation and review of computer records to ensure proper rotation, identification of short coded product, and accuracy of computer records.
  • Enters and alters orders in the computer inventory system as needed.
  • Assembles paperwork for Order Pickers and High Lift Operators.
  • Participates in planning personnel safety and warehouse protection activities.
  • Must understand all warehouse functions and be able to fill in on any position as needed.
  • Maintains clean, sanitary and safe work practices, tools, and area.
  • Assists new employees and trainees in learning proper methods and procedures.
  • Must maintain and comply with all OSHA, USDA, SSOP, and GMP requirements.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma, one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, communicate and interpret documents such as orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively to customers, managers and other supervisors and employees of company in English.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to perform basic mathematical operations using whole numbers and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense to act on instructions given in written and oral form. Capable of recognizing problems, seeking assistance and suggesting solutions.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Pallet jack, High lift and forklift certifications are required.

Computer Skills:

Ability to use Microsoft operating systems and software at a beginner’s level. Must have the ability to learn present and new computer inventory system.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work well with others to achieve common goals and to motivate co-workers to provide effective and efficient services.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
