Paragon Foods is the premier distributor of fresh foods to the restaurant and food-service industry in Western Pennsylvania. We operate out of a new state-of-the-art food distribution facility located in Warrendale, PA.
Summary
Under the direction of the Night Warehouse Manager, the Night Warehouse Forklift Operator is responsible for ensuring product replenishment during picking operations. Utilizing the company’s ERP/ Warehouse Management System (WMS) and associated technology, this position shall identify replenishment stock according to “First in, First Out” (FIFO) product rotation principles and move product from overstock racking to floor (or pick) locations. This position is performed in a general warehouse environment across several different temperature zones and requires operation of several different types of powered industrial material handling equipment. Certification on equipment is required. Essential Functions
- Utilize Warehouse Management System (WMS) to identify overstock according to First In / First Out (FIFO) rotation and transport requested products or packaging materials from storage slots to picking slots.
- Safely transport product from one location to another using appropriate Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
- Safely correct unstable pallets by downstacking to multiple pallets, restacking, or otherwise enhancing stability by adding pallet wrap and/or other materials
- Pick orders when necessary to ensure dispatch times are met.
- Load/unload outbound trucks as needed.
- Unload, separate, and receive and late arriving inbound trucks as needed.
- Complete pre Shift and post shift equipment inspections (according to OSHA Standards under 1910.178(q)(7)) using designated forms, and report any issues or damage to industrial equipment to supervisor via work orders.
- Collect and organize empty pallets, evaluating and separating broken/damaged pallets from useable wood.
- Organize and return unused picking aids (pallet wrap, pick labels, etc.) to storage locations upon task completion.
- Conduct assigned cleaning responsibilities nightly (debris removal, area sweeping, spill cleanup, etc.) according to cleaning schedule provided by management.
- Perform other tasks assigned when necessary to support night warehouse operations including but not limited to: order selection, product repacking, product receiving, product substitutions, and outbound vehicle loading. (See Order Selector and Fresh Produce Packer – Repack job descriptions.)

Working Conditions
- Primarily set in a refrigerated warehouse environment where temperatures are 35-45 degrees Fahrenheit with adequate lighting and occasional exposure to subzero conditions in the freezer environment with adequate lighting, there is low level of noise that does not require hearing protection, and exposure to moving equipment, such as forklifts. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in all environments to include steel-toed shoes and a safety vest.
- Primarily standing work, exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects of various shapes and sizes, including the human body.
- Frequently handling, reaching, using fine manipulation to grasp, position or hold objects. Constantly required to walk, stand, move, and turn with multi-limb coordination. Occasionally required to position self, such as crouching or bending, to select product from lower locations or if item falls on ground.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Hearing ability required to detect safety alerts and alarms, as well as exchange information and detect situations where safety may be an issue.
- Performs a variety of routine duties within established policies/procedures or by management guidance. Work is checked periodically or as needed.
Expected Schedule
Typically 5 days/week (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) from 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM. Shift end time is variable and work is completed when the last order is filled and loaded. Possible overtime required with or without notice.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three (3) months of related experience preferred general warehousing operations.
- Three (3) months experience operating powered moving equipment, such as a forklift, rider jack and lift truck preferred. Clean safety record required. Ability to obtain Reach Truck certification.
- Able to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences throughout the organization.
- Experience and working knowledge of using Radio Frequency (RF) scanners a plus.
- Able to understand basic correspondence, instructions, rules, policies, graphs, and/or charts.
- Able to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and use basic numeric concepts (whole numbers, percentages) to complete job tasks. Able to make reasonable estimates of arithmetic results without a calculator.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
