Warehouse Worker/Loading Crew - Philadelphia

This full-time position reports to the Operations Manager or alternately to Loading Crew Lead when Operations Manager is not available. The primary responsibility of this position is to support field operations by loading and unloading equipment, machinery and materials to and from trucks on a daily basis so that field crew trucks are equipped with all items specified and needed to perform their assigned machinery moving and rigging tasks. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to performing general warehouse operations (loading, unloading, shipping, receiving, organization, cleanliness, etc.); inspecting tools and equipment, processing stock and material shipments and performing warehouse reconciliations. When necessary or required, individuals in this position could support field operations performing or assisting with machinery moving and rigging functions. This position can be subject to occasional or frequent overtime as needs or business conditions require.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES – PRIMARY (MECHANIC):

  • Load and unload trucks with specified and necessary machinery, equipment, tools and materials to support machinery moving and rigging field operations. Must become functionally familiar with equipment and tooling so that individual can identify and provide any ancillary or support components necessary, and/or anticipate typical related components or equipment that may be needed but are not specified.
  • Properly and safely load and secure items on trucks or trailers with load securement devices in compliance with company practices, procedures and governing requirements. Tarp as necessary.
  • Operate trucks, tractors and combinations to the extent required for this position which will include as a minimum, connecting/disconnecting and positioning in yard or at loading docks
  • Pick, pack, wrap, package, prepare, load and secure warehoused items onto trucks for shipping and perform the same in reverse for receiving shipments
  • Properly complete and process all shipping and freight paperwork including Bills of Lading, orders, visual inspection and documentation, etc. as may be required, appropriate or necessary.
  • Inspect all tools and equipment for safe and proper operation and for completeness with regard to components, spares and consumables so that field operations are not impacted by faulty operations or missing components, ancillary equipment, spares or consumables
  • Practice effective ‘kitting’ wherever and whenever possible. Maintain complete and effective kits and seek opportunities to expand kitting practices where possible.
  • Operate lift trucks, overhead cranes, personnel lifts, sweepers and other fixed and mobile equipment as may be required
  • Perform typical warehouse duties including material handling, ticketing, flagging, grid change locations and documentation of same.
  • Perform all work safely and so that the safety of all potentially impacted people is a top priority.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM’s) on small tools and equipment as trained or instructed
  • Use effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with team members and external contacts, vendors and customers.
  • Contribute to the goals of the warehouse, leadership team and company as a whole.
  • Utilize appropriate resources such as manuals, computer, service bulletins and other resources to research problems, determine the most effective and efficient method of repair and locate parts.
  • Completely and properly document work and details as necessary with within both the company’s systems and in compliance with governing agencies as applicable.
  • Abide by all company rules policies and safety rules and assist in maintaining the safest, cleanest and most professional work environment possible.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and take appropriate actions, recommend process changes and initiate improvements.
  • Be a positive role model for all team members providing support, enthusiasm and creating a professional, positive work environment.
  • Work additional hours in accordance with the business needs of this position.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES – SECONDARY (MACHINERY MOVER):

As business conditions require, individuals in this position will be required to work with field crews assisting in performing machinery moving and rigging projects. Other areas of assistance could include, but is not limited to; servicing and repair of trucks, tractors, trailers, other heavy equipment, small tool and equipment repair and warehouse or yard operations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS/STANDARDS:

A high-school diploma is preferred, though not required for this position. Requirements include:

  • Valid driver’s license required
  • CDL license preferred, but not required
  • Possess necessary tools to perform primary duties
  • Ability to clearly read and communicate in English; both verbally and written; ability to read and understand English
  • Effectively and accurately complete detailed work with a sense of urgency; always keeping safety at the forefront and demonstrating safe operating procedures and work practices
  • Basic standards of performance include the following:
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and ability to make logical decisions in support of business demands
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact and communicate effectively over phone and face-to-face building solid working relationships with team members and externally with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, customers and consultants.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is considered heavy physical work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and with exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals. Must be able to:

  • Walk, lift, reach, stoop, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, balance and crouch for extended periods
  • Visually inspect small defects and/or small parts
  • Operate machinery, motor vehicles, hand tools and job-specific equipment and tools
  • Determine accuracy and thoroughness of work
  • Demonstrate ability to hear and accurately interpret mechanical, technical and business information in an environment subject to noise, vibrations, etc.,
  • Perform all work safely in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical be capable of wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respiratory protection (including face-sealing type), hand, eye and hearing protection, fall protection and other protection as may be required by the task(s) being performed.
