Water Operator Job at Rural Water District 8 Osage County
Involves working outside in distribution system, monitors and operates motors, pumps, chemical feeders and related equipment; operates valves and blow-off’s, collect water samples, mow district properties, receive and addresses customers concerns, keep daily log of operations, install and maintaining water services, clean, paint and make repairs to ensure water facilities are in serviceable condition, cut brush and trees using mowers, chain saws and weed eaters, repair and maintain equipment in shop to keep it in working order, order supplies and assist other personnel as the need arises. Must have a general knowledge of mechanics, minor electrical work and the ability to operate computers. Work also includes some heavy lifting. Must demonstrate the ability to learn and work independently and must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED
Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English and have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Must demonstrate the ability to learn and work independently and must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
Must be able to serve rotational emergency on-call services if needed.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
Must have a minimum Class 1 or 2 Water Certification from KDHE. Must maintain the license by continuously meeting renewal requirements and training.
