Position Summary

This position assists in the development and implementation of individual and group evidence-based interventions in the areas of cognitive development, re-entry, job readiness, and other identified criminogenic needs. In addition, the specialist provides treatment services to enhance the youth's psycho-social functioning; assesses, evaluates, and addresses a juvenile youth's treatment needs; coordinates and monitors youth's progress; prepares accurate progress reports, forms and case records. The specialist will work to identify the nature and cause of the youth’ strengths and weaknesses as they relate to chemical abuse, social functioning, and other treatment areas as identified. The specialist will work in conjunction with the primary case manager (Agent) in meeting the youth’s treatment needs as well as working with appropriate community resources.
NOTE: The Treatment Specialist must possess a comprehensive working knowledge of Chapters 938, 48, and 51 of the Wisconsin Statutes for correctly administering the youth's commitment order and mental health needs.
Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule/range 12-64 with an annual salary between $52,977 and $65,353 plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve-month probationary period may be required.
Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience or training:
Developing and implementing treatment programs for youth.
Evaluating and assessing treatment programming and individual treatment plans to assist in meeting case plan goals/needs.
Providing interventions to address criminogenic needs.

Well qualified applicants will have additional experience:
Interviewing and counseling individuals and groups
Working with the clients involved in the criminal or juvenile justice system
