Job Summary:

This is a skilled position working in a production environment. As a Production Welder, you are responsible for the construction of steel plates and other welded materials required within the Precast Units.

Essential Functions:

  • Follow all Company Safety Policies and Procedures as well as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and guidelines. Support business activities, objectives, and programs.
  • Arrive to work at time scheduled. Upon start of work be prepared with proper PPE.
  • Help prepare/stage materials for next day to maintain efficient workflow. Inform Crew Leader of missing materials of information to avoid stoppage.
  • Follow Crew Leader’s instruction to maintain a steady workflow throughout the day.
  • Read and interpret Blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Maintain proper care of tools, and equipment, including general Maintenance and inspection.
  • Connect hoses for torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas, turn valves to release mixture.
  • Ignite torch and regulate flow of gas and air to obtain desired temperature, size and color of flame.
  • Position, secure, cut / form steel materials as needed.
  • Preheat work pieces preparatory to welding or bending, use torch
  • Fill cavities or correct malformation in parts and hammer our bulges and bends in metal work pieces.
  • Dismantle metal assemblies or cut scrap metal, use thermal-cutting equipment such as flame cutting torch or plasma arc equipment.
  • Use different construction tools like small hand tools, tape measure, level, saws, drills & wide variety of mechanical tools
  • Use lifting devices (i.e., overhead cranes, forklifts) to move large work pieces.
  • Examine / Inspect work pieces for defects and measure to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Organize and maintain clean work area. Clean shop area free of hazards and saw dust as mandated by OSHA regulations.

Position Requirements

Requirements, Education and Experience:

  • Experience working in the manufacturing/construction environment, required
  • Minimum of 1 year welding experience, required.
  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred
  • Proficient verbal and written English
  • Legal right to work in the U.S.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This position is located in a manufacturing plant & construction environment. Heavy work that includes moving objects up to 50 lb. or more. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
