SUMMARY
The Trading Post Deli Clerk/Cashier provides exceptional service to customers by taking orders accurately, preparing food products and serve customers with a smile. He/she is also responsible for maintaining all self-serve areas (i.e., coffee dispensers, fountain soda machine, condiment center, etc), maintaining clean work areas, updating and preparing display items, and informing customers about food specials, promotions, and new items; ensuring customers select products that best fit their needs.
DESCRIPTION
Title: Deli Clerk/Cashier
Work Schedule: Full-Time/Non-exempt. M-F 6am-8pm, no weekends or holidays, with the exception of Powwow. Work schedule is contingent and determined by business needs.
Reports to: Wellpinit Trading Post Deli Supervisor

KEY ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide responsive, exceptional service to deli counter customers by answering questions, making recommendations and responding to requests.
- Execute and ensure all applicable food safety and sanitation regulations/procedures are abided by, including weights and measures, health and sanitation and ensuring safe work practices are followed.
- Cooperate with other team members to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Prepare food items for cold case, hot case, fresh pack, salads, special orders, and party trays.
- Maintain self-service offerings (i.e., coffee bar, fountain soda machines, and condiment center).
- Follow recipes to ensure quality and consistency of final product.
- Follow established protocol when preparing, storing, rotating, and stocking food items/product. Ensure all prepared items are labeled, dated, covered, and rotated.
- Monitor food levels and replenish items in a timely manner.
- Monitor product quality and freshness and ensure proper rotation of product.
- Complete product spoilage and transfer records, as needed.
- Maintain accurate department signage and pricing.
- Update display cases and other customer-facing areas to ensure new and promotional items are showcased.
- Receive vendor product deliveries, including but not limited to moving, sorting and stacking cases.
- Assist in maintaining backroom supplies and equipment, as needed.
- Ensure and maintain work areas are clean and ready to service customers via cleaning surfaces, equipment, floors, removing trash and confirm all equipment and/or tools are operational and in safe working condition.
- Comply with all safety regulations and requirements to preserve the safety of employees and all others in the work location.
- Ensure store is free of litter and spills, all equipment is sanitized and in safe good working condition.
- Must wear safety equipment accordingly, as outlined in safety protocols.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must obtain Food Handlers Card within fourteen (14) days of employment.
- Must work M-F 6am-8pm, no weekends or holidays, with the exception of Powwow. Work schedule is contingent and determined by business needs.

- Abide by all safety guidelines and familiarize and follow all Tribal, Federal and applicable Washington State laws pertaining to convenience store operations.

- Dress in a clean and proper uniform via Dress Code Policy.

- STANDING- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and without defined break periods and working unaccompanied.
- HEAVY LIFTING - Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, and safely lifting at least 50 lbs. in narrow spaces.
- Ability to safely lift heavy items, up to but not limited to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work with arms bent for entire shift.
- Ability to push and pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds (i.e. utilizing a hand truck).
- Ability to grasp, reach and manipulate objects with hands throughout workday; requires hand-eye coordination and may require bilateral coordination of hands
- At times may work with or near moving mechanical parts, in high precarious places (i.e. ladder work), and in cold/hot climate conditions.
- Exposure to extreme cold temperatures, i.e., walk-in freezers.
- NOISE – Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds or a pitch or level sufficient to cause marked distraction or possible hearing loss.
- Climbing 20’ ladders.
- Frequent bending, twisting and lifting in narrow spaces.
- Maintain professional composure during stressful situations and conditions.
- Follow policy and procedures in emergency situations, i.e. theft, robbery, power outages, network and equipment failures, etc.
- ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS – Exposure to conditions such as fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases, chemicals, pesticides, deicer, that may affect the respiratory system, eyes, or skin. Heavy cleaning with strong chemicals, as needed.
- EQUIPMENT USED – Operate equipment, such as meat and cheese slicers, scales, fryers, cash registers, etc.

- Proximity to moving, mechanical parts.
- Exposure to electrical shock.
- Working in high, exposed places.
- Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Must wear appropriate personal safety gear.
COMPENSATION
Part-time/non-exempt. Pay rate is $16.00 per hour. Benefits package includes personal time off (PTO) (accrual rate determined by years of service). Professional development opportunities are available contingent upon funding and approval.
