What do Day Camp Counselors do?
- Day Camp Counselors are responsible for a group of youth age 3-14 in a Day Camp environment.
- Provide supervision of youth that is proactive and interactive, and above all ensures safety of each youth in the program.
- Work in a team environment to deliver quality activities to youth that are engaging, educational and reinforce the character values of the YMCA.
- Plan and implement Day Camp Programs in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Channel Islands YMCA and the American Camping Association.
- Understand and apply basic youth and adolescent development principles.
What we look for in a Camp Counselor:
- 18 years of age with a High School diploma or equivalent
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (prior to first day of camp)
- Criminal background clearance
- A minimum of one year experience working with children ages 3-12
