We currently have positions open for the 2023 winter season in the following Regional Coordination Centers:

Colorado Springs, CO or Loveland, CO

These positions are designed as short-term opportunities prior to the already defined 2023 season schedule.

Dates:

January 1, 2023 through March 20, 2023

Available Positions:

• At the Colorado Springs, CO or Loveland, CO Regional Coordination Center = (1) FFT2

Additional Details:

Employees shall be individually responsible for procuring lodging at their expense or currently reside within 60 miles of assigned RCC (COS or FNL).

Schedule:

Employees shall:

• Work three 8-hr Ready shifts at the RCC (Regional Coordination Center) per week.
• Be on an 8-hr standby, four days per week, with a 1-hr callback requirement.

Compensation:

• Regular pay shall be received for the three 8-hr shifts at the RCC per week .
• Standby days shall be compensated for 2-hrs of regular pay each of the four days on standby (the “Standby Rate”).
• Any call-back, resulting in additional hours, will be compensated at the applicable hourly rate.

Pay Ranges

$25 - $36 per hour based on experience and location.

Position
The Wildland Firefighter Type 2 serves on an engine crew, hand crew, or tender, performing fire suppression and fuels management duties in the most adverse climate, fuel, and terrain conditions. The FFT2 has no supervisory responsibilities and is supervised by the Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) or one of the Single Resource Bosses (CRWB/ENGB/TFLD). The FFT2 works in the Operations Section.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Introduction to ICS (ICS-100)
• Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service (L-180)
• Firefighter Training (S-130 – Field Day Required)
• Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior (S-190)
• NIMS: An Introduction (IS-700)
• Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher (WFSTAR) (RT-130)
• Ability to pass a WCT (Work Capacity Test/Pack Test) at Arduous Level (Complete a 3 mile walk wearing a 45 pound pack in less than 45 minutes)
• Employees must be 21 years of age or older.
• DOT Medical Examiner’s Certification (will be authorized by employer for qualified individuals)
• Current driver’s license with acceptable driving record
