Workshop Section Lead - Turbochargers
Reports To: Workshop Service Manager

Job Summary
Plan, direct, and coordinate work orders for the turbocharger station/area. Purchase required materials, equipment and tools in coordination with the Service Office. Responsible for the supervision of Service Engineers and Service Technicians in the Turbocharger Station area by performing designated duties personally or through subordinate staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Planning and preparation of jobs, including planning and organizing parts order and supplies for the workstation.
  • Preparation of repair proposals for selected scope of works in order to supply competitive services to our customers. Provide technical assistance to the staff to provide always high standards of quality and maintain it.
  • Assign, direct, and evaluate work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
  • Participate in WIP meeting and keep WIP list up to date
  • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the work performed in the workstation
  • Perform administrative functions such as writing reports, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or equipment.
  • Organizing and arranging additional supplies and availability of parts for the workstation.
  • Coordinating, overviewing and executing of repairs, complete overhauls, and additional works and modifications on components including quality control during overhaul process and finalization.
  • Guarantee quality of executed works.
  • Working flow and economics during scope of works, including showing flexibility by changes in scope of work.
  • Documentation of tools, inventory, manuals and technical bulletins.
  • Providing limits, measurements and instructions to staff.
  • Creating correct parts orders according to OEM standards.
  • Submitting timely Service Report upon completion of each work scope.
  • Reporting work scope with documentations necessary according to manufacturer specifications and MSHS-ISO standards.
  • Approval of working time in Time Clock for assigned personnel.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to successfully complete product maintenance training program.
    Perform various mechanical maintenance activities both in the workshop and field locations (including ships and power plants).
  • Operate machinery in a safe and productive manner, with goal of zero injuries and equipment damage.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, economic contribution understanding, and exceptional attention to customer satisfaction.
  • Skilled in the use of metric and imperial measuring tools, such as verniers, calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc. with high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to read and understand instruction books and technical drawings written in English and to communicate efficiently and effectively in a professional manner, verbal or in written, whilst understanding the importance of protecting the company’s propriety information and intellectual property rights.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Require a recognized mechanical certificate from a trade school or military training institution or an Associate Degree from a recognized institute in area of specialty and 8 - 10 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • The ability to stand for long periods and be comfortable with kneeling, stooping and working in cramped and uncomfortable positions is required.
  • Should be prepared to twist and turn the body often and must be open to working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Fit for Duty
All field and shop employees will require a pre-employment ENG1 Medical Examination (or equivalent). Shop service employees will be required to take the ENG1 Medical Evaluation but will have more flexibility for compliance based on MSHS accommodations of any given medical restrictions. The ENG1 Medical assessment is a standard examination can take anywhere between 30 and 45 minutes and will include the following:
  • Measurement of height and weight
  • A standard eye test and color blindness test
  • A hearing test
  • Ear and throat evaluations
  • Inspection of teeth and gums
  • Questions about medical history, including drinking and smoking habits
  • A urine sample to test kidney function and blood sugar levels
  • Reflex and hernia testing
  • Listening to heart and lungs, testing blood pressure and heart rate
