Writer and Content Creator Job at Oberlin
Oberlin College & Conservatory invites applications for the entry-level position of Writer and Content Creator for Arts and Sciences. This is a one-year, full-time, 12-month administrative and professional staff position reporting to the Director of Content and Strategic Storytelling, with dotted line reporting to the Associate Dean of the College of the Arts and Sciences. The content creator will collaborate with staff in both Communications and the College of Arts and Sciences. This position may be renewed or extended.

As a collaborative member of the Content Team in the Office of Communications, the Content Creator will tell the story of Oberlin’s academic experience, capturing the passion, commitment, and success of Oberlin’s students and faculty as they advance knowledge and understanding. They will share these stories using the full spectrum of communications tools and mediums, including the written word, photographs, video, and social media. Successful candidates will bring a deep intellectual curiosity, along with strong writing skills and a desire and demonstrated ability to learn multimedia and social media content development skills.
Responsibilities
- Write and edit content as assigned for a range of channels including email, social media, web, and print.
- Create video and photographic content for Oberlin’s social media and other digital channels.
- Use Canva and other digital tools to create graphics for use on digital channels and social media.
- Coordinate student workers creating content focused on the academic experience at Oberlin.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a liberal arts discipline
- Strong writing skills
- Strong skills with, or demonstrated interest and ability to learn, multimedia and social media storytelling tools
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and constituencies.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience using social media for institutional communications work
- Strong aesthetic sensibility and/or basic graphic design experience
- Experience with photography and videography content creation for social media
- Academic coursework or professional experience in journalism or communications
Compensation
Within the range established for this position, salary will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes an
