Yard Manager/Porter – Dry Dock Marine Center – Angola, IN

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Our busy Marine Dealership continues to grow! We are in need of a yard manager/porter who can safely move small to large boats and trailers around our property—in and out of service bays, onto storage lots, etc. Operating trucks, tractors, forklifts, and other equipment is a big responsibility, so only serious inquiries with great skills need apply. The Porter is responsible for the movement, organization and maintenance of DDMC boat lots & buildings.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Positive attitude and be a productive member of our team.
• Driver License: Must be at least 18 with a driver’s license with A Good Driving Record
• Forklift certification required (can be certified on the job)
• Trailering experience required; ability to trailer boats safely and efficiently, as well as launch them into the water
• Operation of boats: Ability to operate a boat preferred.
• Communication: Ability to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and company personnel; clearly and effectively communicate information both verbally and in writing.
• Organization: Ability to effectively organize the boat lot in an effective manner for all departments of DDMC and customers.
• Humility: Ability to honestly and openly communicate any mistakes or mishaps made and learn from them.
• Prior work experience a plus.
• High School diploma a plus.
• Positive interaction with all team members.
• Attention to Detail, Ability to learn about boats, Follow directions.
• Lift up to 80 lbs. at times, Standing, Climbing, Constant use of Hands, and working outdoors is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain boat lot organization and cleanliness.
• Organize the boat lot in a way that maintains an ease of access for both the service and the sales team.
• Deliver boats to specific locations.
• Move boats up to 30’ in length with company vehicles, tractors, and forklifts.
• Communicate and assist customers in a friendly, outgoing fashion, providing them with clear and honest information.
• Transfer service materials from delivery trucks into the shop as needed.
• Maintain constant communication with the service team.
• Assist in the shop’s organization and cleanliness.
• Provide our customers with a positive service experience.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Be able to work independently and efficiently.
• Be comfortable using a wide range of shop tools and equipment.
• Abide by all safety regulations, laws, and company policies.
• Promote the Dry Dock brand.
• Cover and uncover boats as needed.
• Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the dealership vehicles.
• Maintains daily upkeep of store grounds.
• Assist with the setup of boat shows and other off-site promotional events.
• Exhibits a positive and energetic appearance in the work environment.
• Demonstrates attentiveness when customers are on the lot, assisting as needed.
• Proves reliability and discipline by following all timekeeping rules.
• Present a personal professional image through cleanliness and wearing uniform.
• Safely Transport - Haul & Maneuver Boats To Where Needed.
• Assist Service Personnel on Boats
• Assist With the Setup Of Boat Shows/Events
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
