The YMCA AmeriCorps Education program is designed to strengthen and support Before and After School and Day Camp Programs by teaching social-emotional learning concepts to youth (and staff), to ensure program fidelity to curricula, to increase family engagement through volunteer projects, and to build capacity by aiding in recruitment of families, marketing the programs, and bolstering the social media presence. The YMCA AmeriCorps program will serve a population that contains high concentrations of youth who are low income, underserved, and at risk of suffering from existing social and health disparities in Milwaukee. All 10 AmeriCorps members will work in the Y School Age Program from September 1 to June 7 and in the Y summer Day Camp Program from June 8 until August 31, 2021. During the school year, the members will promote social emotional development through Tutoring, Coaching, and will provide other Classroom Support during Out-of-School Time for 75% of their time while encouraging Family Involvement activities such as Volunteering/ Marketing/ Social Media engagement/ Family recruitment efforts 25% of their time.
During the 14 weeks of the summer, the 10 members who provided program services for School Age will take on the role of Wellness Coordinators at our Day Camps and will assist in summer learning activities for 75% of their time, and again be encouraging Family Involvement activities such as Volunteering/ Marketing/ Social Media engagement/ Family recruitment efforts 25% of their time.

- Current driver’s license, current automobile insurance and reliable transportation is required; ability to travel between multiple centers
