Part-Time Youth Leadership Specialist

Part-Time Position

Global Kids, Inc. seeks dynamic, hard-working, and creative individuals who are experienced in youth development, global education, and social action, and are interested in working in Global Kids-DC’s out-of-school time programs. We seek to fill multiple positions for our schoolyear program with the potential for ongoing employment. COVID-19 vaccination is required. All positions will be in-person.

Responsibilities

• Develop and co-facilitate interactive, experiential workshops and activities for Global Kids programs.

• Collaborate with GK staff and youth to generate new program ideas and content focusing on global/local issues.

• Serve as a positive, encouraging & affirming mentor for GK high school youth.

• Conduct attendance outreach services, including attendance monitoring, conferences, attendance incentive activities, and phone calls.

• Help with group management, including supporting positive group interactions, monitoring group transitions between activities, and ensuring safety during check-in, dismissal, and program hours.

• Plan and chaperone field trips and other events.

• Help to maintain necessary documentation, program data, and attendance records and provide information for periodic progress reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Experience working with youth using interactive learning strategies.

• Commitment to and understanding working in culturally diverse settings and using antiracist practices.

• Knowledge of and passion for global issues, political science, history, education, and social activism.

• Excellent facilitation, consensus-building, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.

• Strong work ethic, reliability, initiative, creativity, willingness to learn, and ability to complete multiple tasks independently.

• Strong communication, writing, organizational, and technology skills.

• International experience a plus.

• Fluency in other languages is a plus.

• Global Kids alumni are strongly encouraged to apply.

Hours

Part-time Youth Leadership Specialists must work 20-25 hours weekly at an hourly rate ($20-23) commensurate with experience. Youth Leadership Specialists must be able to work in person at our school sites between 3-6 pm and at other times as mutually agreed upon.
