Job Description

The Orleans Southwest Union Elementary School District is seeking a dynamic individual to work as an Academic Interventionist to help build learning environments in which individuals can be agents of their own learning. The location of the position will be at Hardwick Elementary School. Academic Interventionists analyze assessment data and provide “real-time” research-based interventions within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) approach, such as push-in and/or pull-out in the core curricular areas to struggling students that are currently below grade level based analysis of assessment data. They will assist OSSU staff in transforming their practice from a teacher-driven model to a student-driven model and will deliver coaching to staff around providing targeted interventions in a classroom setting.

Job Requirements

    • Vermont certification as a licensed educator or the ability to obtain a license for Elementary Education grades K-6.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of best instructional practices and research-based intervention practices delivered in a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
    • Ability to coach adults in a learner-centered way; knowledge and understanding of adult learners and demonstrated ability to motivate and teach adults in a variety of instructional settings
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the VT proficiencies relevant to the particular school/grade level assignment
    • Demonstrated success as a classroom teacher with knowledge and mastery of a variety of effective instructional strategies
    • Demonstrated capacity to be self-directed, organized, and collaborative
    • Knowledge of Google Apps for Education and learning management systems in general
    • Required attendance at New Staff Orientation on August 18 and 21, 2023
    • Ability to pass a full background check
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
