The Richmond City Health District is seeking a highly motivated Accountant to join our team. This position is responsible for assisting in the fiscal operations of the District. Characteristic duties include recording fiscal transactions, allocating grant funds, updating and maintaining accounting systems, independently preparing financial statements, reports and cost analysis.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices;
  • Knowledge of the use of data processing techniques in maintaining accounting records and experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
  • Experience in processing adjusting journals, vendor payment vouchers, and deposit vouchers as well as demonstrated ability to design and compile financial reports and statements

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree from an accredited college or University with a degree in Accounting or Business or related experience;
  • State Government accounting or finance experience
  • Experience with federal grant accounting/management including preparing and/or submitting Federal Financial Reports (FFRs)
  • Experience with preparing and monitoring budgets
  • Experience with SPCC (state credit card) use and reconciliations
  • Experience with medical services billing, eligibility and collections

Special Requirements
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a state and federal criminal history background check and the Department of Social Service’s Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS IG Exclusion List check, employment reference check and E-Verify. Other financial, credit, driving, or other background checks prior to employment may be required for certain positions. Completion of Statement of Economic Interests will be required upon employment.
