Quality Community Health Center, Inc. a FQHC operating for 41 years, provides service at 3 locations in Philadelphia, PA managing the health and wellness of patients from infants through senior citizens. We practice medicine as a partnership between us and our patients. Quality Community Health Care, Inc. is seeking a proactive problem solver to help build a world class finance department. We are looking for a full time Accounting Manager not only handle the day-to-day operations, but take ownership and improve processes, analyze financial trends that will enable us to efficiently scale in our next phase of growth. You will partner with stakeholders across the company in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to develop and execute initiatives that will streamline, automate, and improve the accuracy of the close process. You will play a crucial role in ensuring we continue to build a centralized accounting team while partnering across the business to ensure our systems and processes are running smoothly.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

  • Lead the day-to-day general ledger accounting activities, including reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Oversee the monthly financial close process. Own the GL and recording of all business transactions, including detailed analysis and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts
  • Monitor general ledger activity, ensuring entries are accurate and consistent, financial accounts are reconciled and outstanding issues resolved on a timely basis to minimize financial errors.
  • Ensures team deadlines for month-end close and financial reporting requirements are met and in accordance with accounting policies and standard operating/controls
  • Perform and/or review month-end financial statement analysis and flux commentaries
  • Attend monthly P&L review meetings, provide input regarding financial matters, and assist the Financial Director to identify issues early and assess their financial impact, if any
  • Prepare Cost Reimbursement Report and submit to Funders.
  • Manage the functional accounting teams, overseeing and processing routine department activities such as initiating payments and ensuring accuracy of cash application
  • Lead continuous improvement in the areas of accounting operations and financial reporting process/systems to increase automation and scale
  • Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement projects. Document proposed process improvements, leading to an improvement in operational accounting performance
  • Assist the Financial Director with annual budgeting process to ensure timely and accurate deliverables including the preparation and finalization of expense budgets and P&L Summary
  • Oversee daily cash flow requirements; ensure the accuracy and timeliness of cash receipts and disbursements.
  • Oversee and maintain Payment Gateway & Merchant Service Providers to support FSP functionality to accept credit card contributions.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, expense reports, payroll and employee benefits disbursements and year-end 1099 reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of multiple Form 990s and related tax filings.
  • Assists Financial Director with annual budget preparation and support
  • Assists Financial Director with preparing schedules, providing explanations of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary reports and schedules for Single Audit
  • Assist in preparation of annual Uniform Data System reporting compiling required financial information and documentation
  • Participate in professional development as required
  • Others duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum 7 years experience Accounting/Finance role required
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) finance environment (preferred)
  • Experience using Sage accounting system (preferred)
  • Understanding of billing and revenue cycle (preferred)
  • Must possess experience in the supervision of accounting staff
  • Must have experience in creating budgets
  • Non-profit experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures in accordance to GAAP
  • Hands-on experience with Sage or MIP ABILA software preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills- VLOOKUP's, Pivot tables etc.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Good verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • 990 experience preferred
  • Success in building teams
  • Success in meeting deadlines

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
