SUMMARY:
The Activities Aide is responsible for coordinating and providing individual and group activities with both clerical and clinical duties on the nursing unit. Responsible for care planning and assisting residents in setting goals for individual and group activities. Responsible for assisting the professional staff in delivery of quality care, coordinating communications occurring at the Nurse’s Station while assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care and the provision of safety assigned to patients. Provides customer service to patient’s families, visitors, physicians, coworkers, and other medical and non-medical personnel. Responsible for managing resources, supplies, and therapy charges on the unit. Responsible for coordinating the orientation process of new Certified Nurse Aid.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provides therapeutic activities to adult and geriatric residents.
  • Partners with all other hospital personnel, therapy team and TCC members, physicians and contract personnel.
  • Is accountable for clerical and clinical duties of the nursing unit.
  • Oversees public relations of the unit.
  • Welcomes and directs visitors to needed areas of the hospital.
  • Maintains helpful caring attitude and is courteous and cheerful when relating to all other associates and patients.
  • Coordinates orientation process for new Certified Nurse Assistants on the unit.
  • Orients patients and family members to the activity program, including individual treatment plans.
  • Evaluates patients on admission and completes the activity assessment and activity plan of care including goals.
  • Provides individual and group activities for specific component problems and related functional deficits, leisure skill development, leisure counseling, community reintegration, and socialization and adjustment to TCC stay.
  • Assists the interdisciplinary team in patient and family education materials, documents, and informs the interdisciplinary team on areas that may need to be reinforced to the patient or family in the scheduled care plan conferences.
  • Correctly transcribes physician’s orders into mainframe using appropriate forms.
  • Makes proper changes for supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Satisfactorily completes the competency checklist to include testing knowledge and skills.
  • Documents weekly progress notes and utilizes the daily therapy record to record all patient/family contract and interventions.
  • Promptly (within 5 minutes of knowing about them) informs the patient’s nurse of any stat orders or medicine that to be given.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and facility regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understands and adheres to compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflicts of Interest Policy.
  • Demonstrates age-specific skills as required by position.
  • Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs.
  • Attends all mandatory education programs.
  • Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.
  • Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.
  • Willing to cross-train in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in department.
  • Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.
  • Manages resources effectively.
  • Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment.
  • Makes good use of time so as to not create needless overtime.
CREDENTIALS:
* Certified Nurse Aide from Credential source:
  • Georgia Nurse Aid
OTHER INFORMATION:
Must maintain Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) certification in the State of Georgia. One (1) year of hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
