The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Full Time Activities Coordinator the San Antonio Area Command in San Antonio Texas.
Job Summary
Plans, develops, schedules, coordinates, facilitates, and monitors a variety of engaging activities, events, and trips to meet the needs and interest of specific groups participating in Salvation Army programs; monitors all activities to ensure needs of participants are met and to ensure compliance with established activity plans as well as The Salvation Army policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the interests and needs of the specific group for which this job is responsible for serving
Skill in all needed Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
Ability to plan, coordinate, and facilitate recreational and educational programs.
Ability to build and maintain positive and professional relationships with participants.
Ability to prepare promotional materials to increase awareness and participation in activities.
Ability to work with people and to provide assistance in a calm, courteous, and professional manner.
Ability to promote program participation.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D. and Two years work experience coordinating activities and working with the elderly or people with disabilities in a human services or medically-related program, or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to speak a second language (Spanish) is preferred.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
Moderate amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light to moderately heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) frequently.
