Position Summary:The Admissions Receptionist is responsible for greeting visitors, guest, vendors, and employees providing positive customer service. Clerical duties consisting of incoming phones, taking messages, sending emails, and maintain the visitation log. Greet visitors for the patients directing them to the proper location once contacting the proper units. Maintain strict confidentiality of facility and patients. Provide positive customer service to patients, their families, and referral sources always. Represent the organization in a professional and respectful manner when off duty and in the community

Responsibilities:

  • Provide positive customer service to visitors, guest, employees, and patients assisting them with the matters they present
  • Greet Visitors directing them to sign in and receive a visitor badge or sticker
  • Conduct contraband searches if applicable
  • Contact the units for patient visitors or contact the department the visitor request
  • Receive incoming phone call directing them to the proper department/contact person, log and communicate messages that are provided by the caller.
  • Maintain Administrative emails, posting memos as needed.
  • Must demonstrate sound judgment and exhibit positive decision-making skills always when working with patients. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain composure and restrict emotional or reactive behaviors when confronted with physical or verbal altercations by patients and residents.
  • Observes behavior patterns; recognizes behavior changes and early warning signs of anxiety/agitation and intervenes promptly to de-escalate the situation. Intervenes to restrain violent, potentially violent, or suicidal patients using appropriate verbal or physical intervention and promptly reports to RN or manager on duty.
  • Maintains admission packets, takes admission vital signs, reports abnormal findings to RN; checks belongings, lists valuables. Completes initial admission forms; witness client’s signatures. Documents client education on M-77 flow sheet, enters progress note regarding admission process, records valuables.
  • Enter admission information into database and tracking logs. Answers phone, transfers call, conducts page, announces/clears Codes. Routes client/family calls
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Human Services with at least one year of experience working with the population served is preferred; H.S. Diploma or GED and a minimum of three (3) years working with psychiatric or emotionally disturbed youth or adults may be substituted for BS degree.
