The Air Force Research Laboratory’s Space Vehicles Directorate (AFRL/RV) is seeking highly motivated and experienced senior-level career professional to fill the AFRL Space Staff Liaison position at SF/S5B, Pentagon Administration, Arlington, VA.
Position duties include but are not limited to:
  • Collaborates and coordinates aspects of concepts and requirements of operating to/through/in the space domain with the Space Staff – specifically SF/S5B and CTIO/STR – and others as required.
  • Applies expert knowledge & mastery of advanced engineering methods, theories, and standards to analyze and evaluate future S&T needs to determine feasibility of accomplishing space product/capability design and development.
  • Works in collaboration with other DAF and DoD partners, in development of concepts, planning activities, systems engineering, experimentation, demonstrations, and technology transitions.
  • Utilizes multidisciplinary professional engineering knowledge in development of space technologies.
  • Provides technical support to SF/S5B, CTIO/STR, and other DAF partners to establish requirements for single- and multi-domain capabilities transiting to/through/from the space domain and utilizing space assets.
  • Maintains communication with AFRL Space orgs to improve value of S&T projects with respect to addressing future space capabilities.
  • At the request of AFRL, participates in conferences with personnel from both within and outside of the DoD.
  • TDY is a requirement in accomplishment of assigned duties.
  • Top Secret clearance is required.

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship
  • Must possess a professional science or engineering (S&E) degree from an accredited academic institution.
  • Specialized experience is experience providing the capacity and skills for working independently, leading collaborative events, working in teams and using these approaches to find and solve complex problems. Such experience may also include training, collaborative process facilitation, innovation design practice, writing background, editing job roles, continuous process improvement credentials, multi-agency liaison work, published work in refereed technical journals, and/or briefings to large groups.
  • Experience in space related efforts, to include but not limited to Space S&T, Space Systems, Space Technology, and/or any other experience that may qualify as space related.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: To ensure compliance with an applicable preliminary nationwide injunction, which may be supplemented, modified, or vacated, depending on the course of ongoing litigation, the Federal Government will take no action to implement or enforce the COVID-19 vaccination requirement pursuant to Executive Order 14043 on Requiring Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination for Federal Employees. Therefore, to the extent a Federal job announcement includes the requirement that applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 pursuant to Executive Order 14043, that requirement does not currently apply. Federal agencies may request information regarding the vaccination status of selected applicants for the purposes of implementing other workplace safety protocols, such as protocols related to masking, physical distancing, travel restrictions, screening testing, and restriction from the workplace.
