Afterhours Driver Support Job at Halvor Lines
Halvor Lines, Inc, a leader in the transportation industry, is seeking a Full Time Afterhours Operations Coordinator for their fast paced and growing team! This position is responsible for supporting drivers with operational, safety, and maintenance inquiries after hours.
The position is based out of our Superior, WI terminal with the following hours: 7 days on and 7 days off (6pm-6am)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plans and coordinates deliveries and pickups with the customer or broker as needed.
- Handles after hours/weekend calls; guides the caller to the appropriate department.
- Ensures the information on pickups and deliveries is accurate within the operations system.
- Maintains on-going customer and broker relationships.
- Maintains up-to-date awareness of the industry trends and customers and brokers business status.
- Communicates and greets drivers in a professional, friendly manner and encourages drivers to be safe out on the road. Maintains a favorable working relationship with drivers.
- Ensures timely response to any driver communication(s) by identifying themselves per message. In addition, identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
- Through the effective use of the computer system:
- Provides the drivers with their pickup and delivery appointments and ensures the accurate time of the delivered and/or picked up load is in the system
- Ensures efficient scheduling and routing
- Monitors the drivers’ mobile communication usage to ensure the driver is correctly utilizing the proper technology
- Determines when additional training is needed and communicates to proper department
- Reports any unsafe issues or compliance concerns to Safety
- Ensures the drivers’ pay is entered correctly before it goes to Payroll
- Documents all performance issues and concerns where directed. Brings recurring and/or unresolved problems to the Director of Driver Managers.
- Provide callers with guidance on safety matters.
- Work directly with drivers during breakdown events by gathering necessary information, determining best course of action and communicating with driver throughout the process.
- Keep TMT Road Call module current
- Review and approve road repair invoices and ensure accurate and timely
- Ensure repair procedures are followed during road repairs.
- Provides backup to other Operations staff as needed.
- Ability to achieve goals set forth by management.
- Attends work consistently and punctually. Requests time off per policy.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Education &/or Experience:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in Transportation and Logistics strongly preferred.
- A degree in Transportation and Logistics can substitute for experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong customer orientation
- Excellent customer service, influencing, and negotiating skills
- Knowledge and understanding of the FMCS Regulations and other transportation principles
- and operations
- Ability to thrive in a high stress environment with constant interruptions and call volumes.
- Must be flexible and patient in dealing with changing situations
- Must be proficient with computers and relevant software applications
- Requires ability to safely perform job duties and ability to follow instructions.
