Work remotely, teach kids to read, and make a lasting impact on the youngest generation as an Amplify Tutor! We are looking for change makers to join our Amplify Tutoring team as we work in close partnership with schools across New York City to offer small group virtual reading tutoring. Make a difference working with students in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade who will meet with a tutor virtually throughout the school year to build early literacy skills and close the achievement gap! Tutors will be trained to use Amplify’s small group tutoring intervention program and assessment and have ongoing support and opportunities for growth.
Amplify has provided core curriculum, intervention resources, digital assessments, and high-impact coaching and professional development to support data-driven instruction among K-12 educators for over two decades.
Position Summary:
Amplify Tutors will play a meaningful role in supporting small groups of growing readers virtually, multiple times a week. Reporting to the Program Manager of Tutoring Services, the Tutor will use Amplify’s small group tutoring intervention program to deliver tutoring sessions virtually and monitor students’ progress. Our tutoring materials are data-driven, effective, and supportive of tutors.
Successful candidates will be enthusiastic, results-driven, and self-starter individuals who enjoy working with young children and developing learning skills through game-like activities. Candidates must provide consistent, outstanding support to students and will combine a capacity for technology and strong relationship-building skills.
**While this part-time or full-time position is virtual and national candidates will be considered, all candidates must reside in the United States and meet U.S. employment eligibility requirements.
Responsibilities of the Amplify Tutor:

Tutor at least 2 small groups of students 3 days per week at consistent times during the school day throughout the 2022-2023 school year. Each small group session lasts for 30 minutes.

Provide direct, virtual tutoring services to small groups of students in grades Kindergarten through Sixth Grade, multiple times per week, throughout the school year.

Engage in lesson preparation and internalization before tutoring sessions, based on provided small group lesson plans. Lesson preparation can happen at flexible times according to tutors’ schedules and availability, and 30 minutes of preparation is billable per lesson delivered.

Monitor progress of students’ reading ability virtually using our program’s one-minute progress monitoring probes.

Implement feedback from program manager and tutor coach

Communicate clearly and consistently with program management staff

Regularly read and review email and communication from the tutor leadership team to keep informed on program changes and updates.

Attend synchronous or asynchronous bi-weekly tutor meetings with project manager

Attend and engage during virtual training and onboarding

Contribute to project-level feedback
Basic Qualifications of the Amplify Tutor:

Available for at least an hour, at the same time, at least 3 days per week, with reliable and consistent schedule throughout the 2022-2023 school year.

Reliable, diligent, and on time to all commitments

Fluent English speaker

This position requires a computer with a stable internet connection.

Has high school diploma or GED and high school level proficiency with reading competencies

Comfortable with technology (GoogleMeet, Google Docs, GoogleSheets, online platforms)

Enjoys working with Kindergarten through Sixth Grade students
Preferred Qualifications of the Amplify Tutor:

Experience preparing and leading instructional activities or games with small groups of children (ideally virtually)

Knowledge of early reading skills

The hourly rate range for this role is $13.75 - $15 for preparation time ; and $15 - $20 for delivery of sessions
