Who We Are
The Oregon Judicial Department (OJD) is Oregon’s unified, statewide court system, which includes 27 judicial districts in 36 counties, as well as the tax court, appellate courts, and the administrative offices. We have approximately 1,500 employees and 190 elected officials. We are committed to our
mission and values
. We are currently seeking applicants for two Temp Legislative Analyst (Analyst 2) positions.
The Office of General Counsel (OGC) is located within the Executive Services Division of the Office of the State Court Administrator (OSCA). OGC comprises lawyer, analyst, and support staff positions and has five primary areas of responsibility: legal advice and policy development, coordination of risk and litigation services, contracts and other transactional services, legislative review, and judicial education.
As a Temp Legislative Analyst…
Most of your time will be spent researching, analyzing, and providing information about proposed legislation for the 2023 Regular Session. As a member of the OSCA legislative team, you will work closely with staff from OGC, the Office of Legislative Affairs, Court Programs, and other divisions within OSCA. You will draft and edit fiscal impact statements, which explain, objectively, how proposed legislation would impact OJD’s staffing levels and budget. Additionally, you will perform research and analysis related to legislative concepts, track measures, monitor legislative hearings and actions, prepare supporting documentation, draft testimony, attend legislative team meetings, and help with other legislative projects as needed.
What can help you get a chance to interview?
It’s important to know your application will be read by an actual person, not a computer algorithm. When we read your cover letter, we are looking to see if you are writing to us, at OJD, and whether you have addressed the Requested Skills and Attributes listed below. Using a generic cover letter is likely not going to get you an interview, so please take the time needed to personalize your cover letter.
