University Animal Care at the University of Arizona is in search of an Animal Cage Wash Technician. This is an entry level position in the department. This position is responsible for processing clean and dirty caging and operating Cage Wash related equipment. Incumbents are generally assigned to a specific Cage Wash location. Duties include assembling clean caging, processing dirty caging, cleaning and stocking, preparing caging for autoclaving, and doing facility laundry. The work schedule includes participating in the holiday Cage Wash rotation and may include compensated overtime.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assembles clean caging, processes dirty caging, cleans and stocks.
  • Washes and folds facility laundry
  • Prepares caging for autoclaving.
  • Assigned to a specific facility.
  • Operate animal care related equipment, such as rack and tunnel washers, bulk autoclaves, bedding dispensers and flush stations
  • Complete all necessary documentation
  • Performs work with minimal supervision in clean and dirty side of cage wash at assigned facility
  • Reports operational problems or equipment malfunctions in accordance with SOP and departmental procedures.
  • Organize and restock supplies in cage wash and storage areas
  • Must be able to lift/transport up to 50 lbs. several times throughout the day and work in an environment that requires continuous bending, stooping, twisting, and turning.
  • Additional duties may be assigned


Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience may be required.
