Aquatics Fitness Instructor
Responsible planning and teaching group, semi-private and private swim lessons for facility members and program participants.
- Instructs individuals or groups on proper swimming techniques and pool safety.
- Adapt teaching style to the age, experience and ability of the participant.
- Oversees, implements and follows emergency plans, including evacuation routes from the pool area.
- Dresses appropriately at all times, e.g. wears standard, conservative bathing attire, and is able to enter the water at any time to render assistance.
- Maintains records and reports for each class and/or participant; must properly complete and file records of activity for commission compensation.
- Makes sure the deck is kept free of debris, hazards and puddles and all equipment is properly stored.
- Reports specific circumstances or situations of concern to his/her supervisor.
- Communicate with participants to ensure they are aware of their progress.
- Greets members and guests in a friendly manner.
- Participates in regular in-service training and staff meetings.
- Completes his/her shift duties in accordance with the Club policy.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Lifeguard Certification or Fundamentals of YMCA Swim Lessons training or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
- CPR Certification and recent AED training are mandatory.
