POSITION DESCRIPTION
Location: Orlando, Florida
Position: Assistant Controller
Department: Accounting FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports To: Controller
Position Overview:
The Assistant Controller will support the controller in accounting and administrative responsibilities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Perform full cycle accounting functions
Assist with the monthly accounting close
Manage the AP process and train clerical staff to ensure day-to-day accounting activities are reflected accurately and timely in the general ledger.
Review AP aging and coordinate with staff to ensure proper and timely payment of company liabilities.
Review capital expenditure process and enter AP transactions as needed.
Review employee purchase card entries to ensure proper coding and provide finance sign off.
Manage the AR process, train clerical staff and AR Specialist to ensure timely invoicing, collection of payments and proper and timely applications of cash while maintaining positive customer relationships.
Review Aging on a weekly basis with Controller and collaborate with sales division as needed.
Collect, analyze and present customer information to Controller to establish and review credit limits on new and existing customers.
Manage credit hold release decisions in financial software within delegation of authority.
Collaborate with sales division to give visibility to exposure and minimize bad debt loss.
Perform customer pricing updates in financial software system.
Gain competency of payroll functions and perform backup payroll processing as needed.
Review and prepare account reconciliations. Resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
Prepare monthly financials and provide analysis to Controller
Assist Controller with internal audit process and other ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned.
Manage AP and AR staff by reviewing work product, providing constructive feedback, and performing annual performance reviews.
Maintain positive, respectful relationships with employees, customers, and vendors.
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
2+ years of similar experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry
2+ years of supervisory experience
Strong understanding of US GAAP and Accrual Basis Accounting
Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics, Freedom, MS Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel and Word
Strong verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to multi-task
Detail and deadline oriented
Self-motivated with high integrity and work ethic
Preferred Education & Experience
Public accounting experience, big four firm a plus
Master’s degree
Certified Public Accountant
Bilingual, Spanish
Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $110,000.00 per year
