Assistant General Manager

Great opportunity to become a Hotel General Manager. Starting at Assistant General Manager (AGM), we are looking to develop a seasoned professional to become a live-in (resident) General Manager to oversee all staffing,marketing, budgets and operations of a franchisee hotel in San Angelo, Texas. AGM responsibilities include formulating overall strategy to increase sales and room occupancy, managing staffing, facility projects and people, and establishing policies. To be successful in this role, you should be an experienced manager, knowledgeable about franchise requirements, facility operations, and back of the house operations. Must be organized, resourceful, trustworthy, and smart decision maker. Bonus eligible depending on hotel performance. Salary will depend on background and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations
  • Design strategy and set goals for growth
  • Managing facilities projects
  • Maintain budgets and optimize expenses
  • Set policies and processes, including loss prevention practices
  • Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally
  • Oversee recruitment and training of new employees, and proactive management of existing staff
  • Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance
  • Direct the employee assessment process
  • Prepare regular reports for upper management
  • Ensure staff follows health, safety, and legal regulations
  • Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors)
  • Exercise good judgment on cost efficiencies
  • Able to perform duties and jump in when needed at most or all areas
  • Hands-on management onsite.
  • Conducts performance review process for associates
  • Must make a daily report showing all income received, rooms rented, rates received for each room, and expenses incurred, together with making any other necessary reports to record all income and expenses and to adequately verify the same
  • Motivate team, check rooms and common areas for cleanliness and standards
  • Handle time schedules of employees

Skills

  • Proven experience as an Assistant General Manager or similar executive role or Manager
  • Proven track record in the hotel industry demonstrating achievement of outstanding profit and guest service-related goals
  • Should always be able to provide consistent support to the success of the operation
  • Experience in planning and budgeting
  • Knowledge of business process and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations etc.)
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Strong sales experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
  • Problem-solving aptitude
  • College degree from a hospitality program or equivalent

Working Conditions/Special Requirements

  • Must be able to push or pull 50 pounds unassisted and lift and/or carry 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch and reach.
  • Must be able to communicate with other associates and/or guests.

Job Type: Full-time Pay: Depending on Experience. Compensation includes residency on site
