Assists the Head Men’s Basketball Coach with the coaching and student-athlete instruction of all participants in the basketball program.

This is a 10-month position.

Responsibilities:

  • 55% Provides assistance to Head Coach with activities and essential daily work associated with the program and student athletics, including but not limited to, recruitment, game preparation, on-the-floor coaching, video work, scouting, study hall, NJCAA compliance, paperwork, and community involvement.
  • 25% Recruits potential student athletes.
  • 15% Monitors athletes’ behavior in dormitory. Assists student athletes with skill development, monitors academic progress and social skills.
  • 5% Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Successful experience coaching/playing at the collegiate level or higher is required.
  • Successful experience as an assistant coach at the collegiate level is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of the game, skill level to teach the game, and comprehension of evaluating talent.
  • Must have drive to recruit and develop players.
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Must have the ability to respond to emergency situation in a timely manner.
  • The position requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending and stooping.
  • Job may require periodic lifting of heavy objects over 50 pounds.
  • May be exposed to bodily fluids.
  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature.
  • Work involves motivating or influencing others.
