GENERAL SUMMARY
: The Assistant Store Manager’s primary purpose is to assist the Director of Retail Operations with the operation of the retail store, to manage inventory, to maximize profit and loss (P&L) performance by executing company policies and procedures, and to provide superior customer service. They will serve as a liaison between departments and vendors while overseeing the flow, structure, and maintenance of data in Revel and Shopify.


This position requires strong knowledge and experience with Shopify. Maintain and make regular updates to Shopify store including SEO tags, product updates, page listings and inventory management. Online store management including shipping updates, vendor and customer communication.


This job will be a combination of online store management, customer and vendor communication.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist the Director of Retail Operations with the operation of the retail store including lead associates through the execution of company business plans/objectives to drive sales, be profitable and provide a superior customer and associate experience.
  • Assists with Store’s Strategic Plan and Business Plan as needed
  • Enforce all policies and procedures to ensure excellent customer service is provided and to maximize the P&L performance of the store.
  • Assist with the general maintenance and appearance of the store by ensuring a safe and pleasing environment for both customers and associates; request store maintenance when required.
  • Ensure the store opens and closes at the appropriate time and the proper procedures are followed for cash transactions and bank deposits.
  • Responsible for receiving all merchandise and data entry of merchandise, while maintaining accurate inventory.
  • Will assist with vendors to order merchandise
  • Responsible for Customers’ records
  • Assist with retail monthly, yearly and special reporting and make recommendations for improvement, including payroll
  • Prepare the retail store for physical inventory by ensuring merchandise on the sales floor and in the stock room is in order and easy to access.
  • Creates reports to track inventory and various store functions.
  • Utilize Shopify to manage online store inventory.
  • Special projects as directed by the Director of Retail Operations.
  • Work as a Sales Associate on an as needed basis


  • Three years or more experience with one or more of the following: website management, e-commerce retail management
  • Ability to confidently take on tasks and manage aspects of the business independently
  • Strong verbal communication and writing skills; this job requires frequent interactions with our vendors and customers online and in person, and working closely with other employees


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:


EDUCATION
: Associate Degree – Business, visual merchandising, Art, retail or related field.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
: 3 years’ experience in retail and/or related field.


SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A passion for Mint Museum’s mission and possess at least 3 years’ experience leading successful retail teams
  • Enthusiasm for teamwork, accuracy, initiative and critical thinking
  • Understanding of database management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both on broad-based strategy and on specific detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • College degree or equivalent


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
: Strong knowledge of accounting, administrative duties, the retail business and customer service. A self-starter who can work independently with little direct supervision in a professional manner. Proven computer skills in accounting software, Word and Excel and POS systems with an ability to learn other software programs in a timely matter. Excellent written and oral communication. Strong enthusiasm, leadership, independent judgment, initiative, planning and follow-through skills. Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-tasking environment. Strict confidentiality and trustworthiness. Strong organizational skills.


WORKING CONDITIONS
: Normal office environment. Occasional nights and weekends required. Some climbing on ladders and lifting of up to 25 pounds.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will support Manager to develop Staff and will be supported in daily or miscellaneous projects.
