Purpose of Job:
The Associate External Innovations will be a member of the Lilly Genetic Medicine (GenMed) team and help to deliver on near and long-term goals by supporting GenMed strategies to identify and propel innovation. This will include supporting operations, administrative, and organization of key information relating to relationships with external partners such as industry peers, biotech, academic and geographyfocused life-science organizations. This position will report to the Director External Innovations Genetic Medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
- General support for identification and evaluation of new opportunities.
- Record all relevant information into Search & Evaluation caseload management information systems.
- Provide clear reports and information, updated on a regular basis, to monitor activity and progress against objectives.
- Build and maintain a thorough understanding of the external innovation landscape and aligned to Lilly’s areas of interest. May contribute to special projects and landscaping of technical areas.
- Liaise with internal functions to ensure policies are strictly adhered to and processes are smoothly executed.
- Maintain contact channels and information flow in support of GenMed team goals (e.g., meetings and teleconferences to discuss potential new opportunities, updating information discussions advance)
- Support and develop contacts and relationships with potential partners identified through GenMed team (e.g. academia, biotech, Venture Capital, peer pharma, incubators)
- Support Lilly’s visibility at regional conferences and partnering meetings including prior analysis of opportunities, planning of logistics and follow up communications. Some attendance at regional events may be expected.
- Maintain an awareness of new and planned developments (e.g. new sources of innovation funding; strategic initiatives in new areas of healthcare etc).
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master of Science in a discipline related to pharmaceutical drug discovery and development, e.g., Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or Genetics.
- Strong scientific background and basic knowledge of pharmaceutical business and drug development process.
- Strong organizational skills, with ability to multitask and simultaneously manage several priorities.
- Evidence of the strong interpersonal skills required to generate and maintain internal and external networks both face to face and remotely.
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

- Flexible can-do attitude to respond quickly to fast moving initiatives and priorities and work effectively in a complex matrix environment.
- Possesses the maturity and judgement to work on sensitive and often highly confidential projects in full adherence to Lilly policies.
- An awareness of industry trends and new areas of scientific development.
- Excellent English communication skills (written and oral).
- Strong database / computer skills.
- Interest in analytics is desirable.

- Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $61,500 to $132,000 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).Of course, the compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
