This position directs the activities related to the daily operations of the Florida Together Now Project. Responsible for the direction of multiple administrative functions including facility operations, outreach, management, evaluation, communications, and other efforts as needed.

  • Establishes the direction, goals, implementation strategy and policies of the program.
  • Directs the efforts of and supervises study staff, sets performance standards and accountability.
  • Advises senior administrators in implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects as they relate to the Florida Together Now grant.
  • Responsible for ensuring all programs, activities, and series comply with university, state, and federal regulations.
  • At the direction of the Principle Investigator (PI), Dr. Linda Cottler, serve as primary liaison and provides oversight between PI and university departments or external entities including but not limited to Management, Evaluation and County Extension Teams, external partner Health Literacy Media (HLM) and the 11 Florida local health councils; perform project-based work aligned with the Florida Together Now’s mission. Responsible for multiple administrative functions which involve supporting communication/dissemination efforts of the project through HLM, facilities operations, outreach, evaluation and other efforts as needed. Directs the efforts of and supervises at least two program assistants, operations manager and others as determined by the PI; sets performance measures and accountability of those supervised. Advises senior administrators (including the PI) in implementing the 10 Promising Practices and other measurable outcomes, lead new initiatives and other special projects as they relate to the FTN program. Serve as a key team member of the Cottler Lab, contributing substantially to the success of additional programs such as PANDEMIC, calendar management related to the FTN project and other duties as assigned.

Maintaining Collaborative Partnerships and Inclusive Work Environment:

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships throughout the University. Oversees communications, promotions, and public relations for program to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Serves on various statewide, regional, and local committees and represents the program at various state and national functions.
  • Responsible for maintaining an inclusive working environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.

Strategic Planning

  • Translates strategic and tactical business plans into operational plans. Has latitude to make operational decisions within broadly defined parameters and decision requires a high level of judgement.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships throughout the university, Florida Department of Health, Health Literacy Media and the 11 Local Health Councils in Florida. Oversees communications, promotions and public relations for the Florida Together Now program which includes but is not limited to: composing clear, precise and detailed correspondence with faculty, staff, and internal and external entities in concert with Health Literacy Media. Serve on relevant statewide, regional and local committees relating to FTN progress, programs and processes such as a statewide Community Advisory Board, weekly Oversight Committee meetings and others. Generation of peer reviewed abstracts, manuscripts and other related materials, contributing to the success of the FTN project. Participate and at times lead team meetings (with FLDOH, all-hands team meetings and separately scheduled management/evaluation/extension meetings) and other development and training events.

Expected Salary:

$90,000 - $100,000



Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in public health or other related field and three years of appropriate experience or a bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization and eight years of experience.
  • Capability to work with Office Suite, manipulation of data needed, ability to multitask.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, coupled with the knowledge of when to seek advice.
  • Honest, trustworthy, able to think strategically as demonstrated in interview.
  • Able to manage day-to-day activities while maintaining project deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and possess a high work ethic.
