Position Summary:
The Athletics Creative Content Manager reports to the Director of Athletic Communications and assists with all aspects of media coverage for the Colleges 23 NCAA Division II teams. The Creative Content Manager will join a robust Athletic Communications staff in a role with emphasis on graphics design and digital content, including social media. Candidates must be committed to excellence and to advancing the Department of Athletics through a variety of social media outlets. Duties include managing the communications efforts for the intercollegiate athletic program including the development and implementation of strategies to increase awareness of the department's achievements. Candidates are responsible for developing and executing a robust social media plan for the main department channels as well as sport-specific accounts. The Creative Content Manager will identify opportunities for publicity of student-athletes, staff and other institutional constituencies. The successful candidate will enhance the student-athlete experience and assist with the overall efforts to promote and recruit student-athletes to the College.

Essential Responsibilities and Position Accountabilities:

  • Work with Director of Athletics Communications on the development and implementation of a strategic social media communication plan for the department
  • Collaborate with selected campus units and constituents to disseminate pertinent information in a timely fashion
  • Plan, manage and execute social media and digital content initiatives
  • Produce and post featured content, including graphics, short video clips and other miscellaneous media when applicable
  • Design and provide content to publicize home athletics events
  • Partner with Multimedia Coordinator on projects involving video and other game footage
  • Hire, train, supervise and schedule student workers who help with the publicity of on-campus events
  • Organize post-game interviews with coaches and student-athletes when applicable
  • Serve as an Athletics Communications contact for several sports
  • Assist the Athletics Department in planning miscellaneous athletics special events (e.g. awards night, hall of fame, awards presentations, etc)
  • Possess the ability to learn new technologies, strategies and other social media skillsets quickly
  • Encourage and create an atmosphere of sportsmanship, professionalism and respect among the staff, coaches and student-athletes within the program
  • Other duties as assigned by departments senior leadership team

Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in graphic design, video production or athletics communications preferred. Comprehensive understanding of multiple facets of NCAA athletics required. Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated excellence with interpersonal communications (written and oral) skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment is necessary. Ideal candidate will have excellent branding skills, strong strategic thinking and problem solving abilities and experience with several social media channels. Attention to detail and accuracy; customer service oriented and able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, coaches and campus and external entities. Must be comfortable working in team environment with a positive attitude and sense of humor. Unwavering commitment to academic integrity, inclusion, diversity, gender equity, student-athlete welfare and knowledge of NCAA, Title IX compliance.

Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite and desktop publishing software, such as InDesign and Photoshop, required. Proficiency with video streaming and editing hardware and software, word processing, statistics software (i.e. NCAA Live Stats, StatCrew) and general office software programs preferred. This position will require travel, working weekends and variable hours, including nights and weekends.
