Aviation Customer Communications Specialist Job at Port of Seattle
Some of what you'll be doing:
As an Aviation Customer Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for educating, informing, and engaging a diverse public audience on SEA Airport services, facilities, and operational conditions.
- You will participate in and drive real-time responsive engagement with SEA customers and the public that coincides with airport services, facilities, irregular operations, weather conditions, events, and incidents.
- You will maintain a steady cadence of relevant social media content for customer communication to support the SEA brand using various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- You will write, edit, and research a range of communications for assigned responsibilities including web pages, newsletters, social media channels, apps, blogs, letters, and internal communications.
- You will support positive customer experiences, lead content management for digital channels, printed materials, and in terminal applications.
- You will interpret data from social media and digital platforms, prepare written reports, and provide leaders with insight on customer satisfaction and identifies emerging trends.
- You will maintain awareness of new trends and developments in the fields related to customer communication and digital channels.
- You will collaborate with the development of strategic messaging in real-time and assures accurate information is conveyed and information aligns with and supports the SEA brand.
- You will work with external partners such as airlines and communication vendors to effectively communicate with customers.
Who you are:
Two years of experience may be substituted for one year of education:
- Experienced – You have three (3) years’ work experience in social media, digital communications, writing, and customer service.
- Educated – You possess two (2) years of college education.
- Desired – We hope you have five (5) years’ work experience in social media, digital communications, writing, and customer service and a Bachelor’s degree.

- Technically Skilled – You are proficient in computer office software suites, such as Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and enterprise level social media dashboards.
- Collaborator – You are someone who can work with diverse internal and external stakeholders at various levels of the organization to build relationships and resolve problems while providing excellent guidance and customer service.
What else you need to know
:
- Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will vary Monday - Sunday, four (4) days a week, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays and an on-call schedule for emergency response outside of work hours.
- Work Environment – This work will take place in a hybrid remote/in-office setting at Management’s discretion with the requirement to be in-office once a week or more depending on site needs.
- Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
- COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement – Effective, November 15, 2021, the Port of Seattle will require that at the time of hire, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be able to provide proof of their full COVID-19 vaccination status, as part of the hiring process. This is a condition of employment for all positions at the Port of Seattle. People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine. Prior to employment, candidates may make requests for a reasonable accommodation based on a medical disability or for sincerely held religious beliefs. Philosophical, political, scientific, or sociological objections to vaccination will not be considered for an exemption or accommodation.
- Overtime Eligible – You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.
- Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
