We are looking for a certified welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with all types of welding methods, including MIG, TIG and ARC welding. The ideal candidate will have their welding certification and at least three years of related industry experience. This position will be working closely with your team to ensure that all safety protocols are adhered to while also ensuring that all projects are completed on time.

Responsibilities:

• Weld steel to specification.
• Able to decipher blueprints explaining how to weld together multiple materials
• Use gas equipment.
• Use a torch and flame-cut metal.
• Use a caster, roller, or other tool according to specifications.
• Work with a team.
• Deal with difficult people.
• Use tools and equipment that might be dangerous if not used correctly.

Columbia Industries Welder Evaluation Test Guidelines

Evaluation has an assigned time limit of your scheduled 2 hours to complete which also includes your practice and machine set up.

Visual Inspection Criteria (Per AWS D1.1):

1. Welding must be performed in the 3G (Vertical) Position.

2. All “Vertical” welding progression must be uphill!

3. No cracks of any size allowed.

4. All craters must be filled to full cross section of weld.

5. Weld Face reinforcement shall not exceed 1/8”.

6. Undercut shall not exceed 1/32”.

7. Underfill not allowed.

8. Stringer weld only! No Weaving allowed!

9. Root weld MUST be inspected before proceeding. If you proceed you will be disqualified.

10. Weld face reinforcement must present a uniform appearance and with gradual transition to the base metal.

11. Bending of test will not be performed on test that doesn’t pass visual criteria.

Grinding:

1. Grinding allowed on intermediate weld layers.

2. NO Grinding on Root Weld.

3. NO Grinding on Weld Face.
