CHILD CARE WORKER (CCW)

Location: The Cottage

DESCRIPTION:

Effectively assists the Program Director in managing the needs of the residents, helping to ensure a superior quality of service is provided.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Resident Services
▪ Establishes a positive relationship with each child and serves as a role model
▪ Supervises and assists children daily, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times

▪ Actively participates in activities with the children to include various sports, walking, bending, climbing, twisting, reaching and lifting up to 20 lbs.

▪ Responsible for the transportation of children using company vehicles to outings, appointments, etc. as assigned

▪ Effectively and respectfully communicates with children
▪ Communicates all child needs to supervisor
▪ Resolves complaints or concerns
▪ Distributes medications according to policy guidelines and accurately documents the activity

▪ Monitors residence for cleanliness and safety; assists with cooking and household duties as needed

▪ Administers discipline appropriately as outlined in agency policy and procedure guidelines

2. Administrative
▪ Documents all relevant information on each child in the daily report
▪ Attends all staff meetings and completes all annual training requirements
▪ Wears appropriate attire per the Employee Handbook guidelines
▪ Knows and follows all Cottage policies and procedures

3. Works assigned schedule

4. Complies with safety rules and performs duties in a safe manner

QUALIFICATIONS:

▪ High school diploma or equivalent
▪ 2 years of direct childcare experience preferred, but not required
▪ Must be 21 years or older
▪ Must have a valid driver’s license
▪ Microsoft Office suite proficiency
▪ Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

▪ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
▪ Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT:

▪ Appropriate and effective interaction with staff, management, volunteers and the public
▪ Accomplishment of job functions in an effective and timely manner
▪ Demonstration of increasing level of job knowledge and proficiency
▪ Exercises sound judgement in the absence of specific guidelines
▪ Accuracy and timeliness in completing assigned projects and paperwork
▪ Adherence to and enforcement of Cottage policies and procedures

• 8 hour shift
• Evening shift
• Weekend availability
