Apartment Therapy Media is seeking a Cleaning and Organizing Editor to oversee the day-to-day editorial operations of the lifestyle section of Kitchn and contribute regularly to Cubby. The Cleaning and Organizing Editor will report into the Executive Lifestyle Director and is a cross-brand role responsible for writing, assigning, and editing daily content. The ideal candidate will have a proven passion for lifestyle and family content and strong digital editorial background. This position can be remote or based in our headquarters in SoHo, NYC.

Responsibilities:

  • Own, develop, and direct the voice and vision for the lifestyle content on Kitchn, in coordination with the Executive Lifestyle Director
  • Regularly contribute lifestyle content for Cubby
  • Run the lifestyle ("Kitchen") vertical at Kitchn: assigning, editing, or writing a total of approximately 50 pieces of content a month
  • Develop and run series, columns, and franchises in the lifestyle ("Kitchen") vertical at Kitchn
  • Oversee the lifestyle freelance vertical budget at Kitchn
  • Attend industry and press events
  • Cultivate a network of lifestyle freelance writers and experts
  • Work with the Art Director to illustrate digital content
  • Monitor traffic, drive growth, and develop lifestyle content in both social and search spaces, pushing toward monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals
  • Develop content by platforms, including SEO, Pinterest, Flipboard, Facebook, etc.
  • Collaborate with the social media team to bring lifestyle content to life across platforms
  • Assist the Executive Lifestyle Director and other team members in running larger franchises, tentpoles, and packages throughout the year.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4+ years experience in digital media or publishing
  • Subject-matter experience within the home/lifestyle realm, and specific expertise or proven passion within the cleaning and organizing space
  • Experience writing and editing how-to and service-driven content
  • Stellar reporting, fact checking, and editing skills
  • Experience in managing and editing multiple freelancers
  • Skilled in concepting, acquiring, and packaging content
  • Experience in editing stories for accuracy, service, and voice
  • Experience in web analytics: Google Analytics, Parse.ly, etc.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, adjust strategy and execution in the face of new information

Salary Range: $70,000 - 80,000 annually

The above represents the expected salary range for this role. Ultimately, compensation is determined by level of experience, location, and other job-related factors.
