CNC PROGRAMMER/OPERATOR
Program, setup and operate CNC machining equipment to fabricate electrodes, cavities, cores, mold plates, inserts, fixtures and other components. Document the electrode design and use for mold makers. Record activities relating to the development of electrodes and other CNC tooling paths. Communicate with mold makers to achieve the goals and objectives of the department
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
1) Translate electronic files and create data for use in the CNC machining process
2) Create tool paths for the CNC machining process
3) Create EDM electrode designs as directed by the mold maker
4) CNC machine electrodes, cavities and cores as requested from the mold maker
5) Inspect the components or electrodes as produced and ensure correctness for use by mold maker
6) Engrave components as requested or required
7) Maintain equipment in excellent condition and report needed maintenance or repair to Tooling Manager
ACCOUNTABLILITIES
1) Quality and accuracy of electrodes, cavities, cores and other components produced
2) Time required to produce components or electrodes
3) Quality and accuracy of documentation provided to mold maker for the use of electrodes
4) Equipment condition and maintenance as well as records for the maintenance
5) Consistency and quality of electronic files created and saved for future use
6) Quality and accuracy of parts produced using tooling fabricated by the tooling department
7) Financial results of the tooling department.
8) Attendance and reporting timeliness

EXPERIENCE
1) Minimum three years hands on CNC programming and machining in a plastic injection mold making environment
2) Minimum three years experience setting up fixtures and tooling to be used for component or electrodes
3) Minimum two years use of Mastercam software
4) Minimum two years experience using measuring tools including dial indicators and gage blocks
5) Minimum one year experience using manual milling machines, surface grinders, band saws, and lathes
6) Minimum five years experience with computers and other software applications, Windows 2000
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
1) High School diploma
2) CNC programming and machine setup training either at community college or trade school
3) Blueprint reading course or certificate
4) Mastercam use and operation training
REQUIRED SKILLS
1) Mastercam Software operation
2) Mathematics through trigonometry
3) Blueprint reading
4) Inspection procedures and use of inspection equipment
5) Excellent oral and written communication skills including sketch creation
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS
1) Must be able to lift 55 lbs
2) Must be able to look at computer screens and use keyboards for long periods
3) Must have mechanical aptitude for the use of hand tools required to setup CNC machines
TRAINING REQUIRED
1) SDM company policies and procedures
2) SDM safety policies and procedures
3) SDM electronic file use and storage
4) SDM work order handling policy
5) Tooling department equipment use and storage
