THE OPPORTUNITY:

Participates in the administration and communication of compensation plans for Transtar Industries. Conducts classification reviews and job audits. Participates in, conducts, and/or responds to salary and wage surveys, market reviews, and pay compression studies. Analyzes salary data and makes recommendations regarding salary placement. Reviews and makes salary recommendations for new hires, internal promotions, reclassifications, and other employee actions. Ensures consistency, internal equity, and external market competitiveness of requested actions/recommendations as well as compliance with compensation policies, guidelines, and procedures.

This is a primarily remote position, with occasional visits to the home office in Walton Hills, OH requested for either special projects or team building activities.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Participates in the ongoing administration of compensation plans by:

a. Conducting classification reviews and job audits.

b. Completing position evaluation/classification process by researching and analyzing data and assigning pay ranges, job title, and FLSA status.

c. Performing quality control on job descriptions and other functionally relevant documents.

d. Researching and analyzing salary data.

2) Provides salary administration assessments by:

a. Reviewing and making salary recommendations for new hires, internal promotions, reclassifications, and other employee actions.

b. Ensuring consistency, internal equity, and external market competitiveness of requested actions/recommendations as well as compliance with compensation policies, guidelines, and procedures.

c. Participating in, conducting, and/or responding to salary and wage surveys, market reviews, and pay compression studies as required. Analyzing data and making corresponding salary adjustment recommendations.

d. Participating in the preparation and review of data for company-wide or classification-wide general or equity salary adjustments.

3) Assist with administering the annual bonus program and merit pay increase process by:

a. Assisting with creating compensation events related to these compensation programs in ADP.

b. Ensuring related program materials are updated on an annual basis (i.e. agreements, communication).

c. Assisting with ensuring that all approvals are obtained from all levels of management.

d. Working with the Total Rewards Manager and the Payroll team to ensure that payments and/or pay adjustments are paid accurately and on time.

4) Participates in the development and presentation of Compensation training sessions for HR team members. Prepares compensation communiques. Provides compensation administration guidance to leadership.

5) Enters, reviews, approves, and audits employee information in ADP as requested.

6) Provides special project support to the various Human Resource functions as requested.

7) Keeps current with compensation trends, developments, and practices through active participation in departmental learning initiatives, continuing education courses, professional organizations, seminars, and workshops, reading current literature and maintaining professional contacts in the community.

8) Other duties as assigned.


KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Experience – 3 years in compensation, or 5 years in human resources with notable exposure to compensation principals.
  • Minimum Education – Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated above.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including designing and building spreadsheets.
  • Ability to organize and summarize data, make recommendations, and prepare leadership-ready reports and communications.
  • Knowledge of relevant labor laws.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred Education – MBA or other job-related Master’s degree.
  • Experience using ADP as the HRIS system of record.
