Compliance Coordinator - Southeast Region Job at The Westervelt Company
Westervelt Ecological Services (WES) creates mitigation and conservation banks and provides environmental mitigation and habitat planning services to landowners, businesses, government agencies, and land trusts. Our established industry leaders excel in the field of wetland and endangered species mitigation services, to create a nationwide habitat mitigation company.
We are looking for an experienced Compliance Coordinator - Southeast Region to join our team in our Auburn office.
The Compliance Coordinator will track and assure completion of all project regulatory and permitting compliance tasks for the Southeast Region. Over twenty-five separate properties, including mitigation banks, mitigation sites, and properties under development, require a high degree of oversight with regard to fulfilling terms and conditions of agency approvals. Each project involves an array of skilled experts in its establishment and management, and the Compliance Coordinator will utilize their talents and knowledge of each project to help complete project milestones via compliance oversight and reporting.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Keeps a schedule of all project-related compliance requirements to ensure credit releases can occur according to planned timelines for delivery.
- Coordinates with various project leads to ensure compliance tasks/deliverables are made accurately and on time.
- Tracks financial assurances and endowment deposits that support interim and long-term stewardship of project sites.
- Supports the land stewardship staff by ensuring land management activities occur on time and within permit conditions while tracking these activities for reporting to agencies.
- Provides quality assurance/quality control of agency submittals developed by other employees.
- Coordinates with land trust partners to ensure annual compliance visits are occurring and reports are submitted to agencies.
- Assists in the preparation of reports to agencies, internal stakeholders, various partners, and clients.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Biology, Wildlife Sciences, Environmental Studies, Environmental Policy, Natural Resources, or related field
- Minimum of three years’ experience in related field. A master's degree in appropriate field may be substituted for two years of experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with wetland and species regulatory polices
- Ability to develop and maintain schedules and plan for submittals
- Ability to communicate technical details effectively in both oral and written forms
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members of other disciplines
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in permitting, project management, habitat restoration, monitoring, reporting and mitigation
