Sunrise Engineering is currently initiating a search for a Construction Observer to support our growing organization. This position is based in our Salt Lake City, Utah office.

Your Impact

The Construction Observer provides both strategic and operational support to service center managers throughout the organization.

• Perform field inspection and document review functions on construction projects with emphasis on UDOT roadway projects.
• Perform Materials Testing Field and Laboratory technician responsibilities (SRDTT, CTT, Asphalt, Laboratory, etc.)
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Perform general administrative/clerical work as required. Including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, attending meetings, entering, and retrieving data, copying and filing documents for file management, verbal and written communications with customers, customer service, and related functions.

Required Qualifications

Skills:

• Able to work efficiently under tight deadlines, as well as balance multiple projects by prioritizing effectively.
• Must be responsible and have demonstrated organizational/planning skills.
• Approachable and good at interacting with diverse groups of people.
• Analytical problem solver with strong attention to detail.
• Able to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work with a team and independently with minimal supervision.

Minimal Requirements:

• Read and interpret construction plans.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically:

Excel- able to add/delete rows and columns, sort and filter search for date within a workbook, other basic formatting.

Word- able to format documents and letters, track changes made to documents, upload documents into a shared online database (Dropbox or equivalent.)

Outlook- create/maintain outlook calendar, effectively sort emails.

• UDOT requires the Construction Inspection Training Program (CITP) as part of their Quality Assurance Program and is required by CFR 667.
• Applicants that have Sampling, Reduction, and Destiny Testing Technician (SRDTT) and Concrete Testing Technician (CTT) certifications are preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass Motor Vehicle Report Inquiry.
