Starting pay: $20/hour

Position Overview:

The Construction Site Supervisor takes part in all Habitat construction programs. They are responsible for completing construction projects independently on the worksite and supervising construction volunteer groups. The Site Supervisor will train volunteers in the use of construction equipment and adhere to all safety protocols. Typical tasks include but are not limited to setting scaffolding and job site preparation, interior and exterior home repairs, concrete, framing, roofing, painting, landscaping, and tear-down.

Job Duties:

Construction activity

  • Inspect, estimate, and schedule repair projects as assigned
  • Assist with worksite set up and tear down
  • Acquire permits and schedule inspections as needed
  • Complete assigned construction tasks independently and with groups, including setting scaffolding and site preparation, completing interior and exterior home repairs, pouring concrete, framing, roofing, painting, landscaping, and more; on-the-job training available
  • Ensure proper materials and tools are available on job sites
  • Conduct clean and concise work on all worksites
  • Conduct walk-through inspections with clients as needed
  • Respond to emergency situations calmly and effectively
  • Maintain positive relationships with all subcontractors, vendors, and partner agencies
  • Support and engage in the mission of Habitat for Humanity serving Winona County

Supervise volunteers

  • Train volunteers on tasks, supervise their work, and ensure appropriateness of actions
  • Enforce safety rules, restrictions on youth activities, and safe use of power tools

Operations

  • Organize tools and trailers, and keep inventory records current
  • Maintain and repair vehicles, tools, and equipment
  • Comply with affiliate and Habitat for Humanity International policies and procedures
  • Abide by municipal/local/state building codes and regulations
  • Maintain OSHA Competent Person, EPA Certified Lead Renovator, forklift, and First Aid and CPR certifications, as well as other employer-provided credentials as required
  • Submit and code receipts in a timely manner
  • Work in compliance with relevant grants
  • Attend staff meetings and complete all assigned trainings
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations & Construction

Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Embrace Habitat for Humanity’s mission, vision, and goals
  • Hands-on experience in residential construction, building techniques, and site safety
  • Knowledge of building materials and subcontractor work
  • Able to read and interpret residential construction blueprints and specifications
  • Basic mathematical aptitude to calculate building measurements, quantities, cut lists, etc.
  • Well-organized and able to manage changing teams on multiple projects and sites
  • Motivational leadership style and ability to teach volunteers with varying construction abilities
  • Effective communicator with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Flexibility regarding work assignments and hours
  • Independent worker and productive with minimal supervision
  • Goal-oriented and focused on productivity
  • Professional manner

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb ladders, inspect roofs, and crawl into tight spaces
  • Ability to use, and demonstrate use of, construction and power equipment
  • Ability to drive company vehicles and tow trailers
  • With reasonable accommodation, able to lift 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 2 years of related experience
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record; see Driver Guidelines document for details
