Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital (HMNH) is looking for a Contracts Coordinator to join their team. HMNH is a 357 bed acute care, independent not-for-profit hospital with a Level II Trauma Center and supports 71 specialties and sub-specialties.

Located in a picturesque valley 35 miles north of Los Angeles, Santa Clarita has been steadfast in its growing role as a first choice community for raising families and building businesses in Los Angeles County. Santa Clarita was designated as one of the safest communities of its size in Los Angeles County and is also economically stable with among the lowest unemployment rate in Los Angeles County among cities with populations over 100,000.

The Contracts Coordinator will be a seasoned professional who will be responsible for managing all payor contracts and the integrity of managed care agreements. It is also important that is individual be experienced in participating in contract negotiations. The Contracts Coordinator, while working independently will also work in close collaboration with the Senior Vice President/Chief Financial Officer. This individual will assume the responsibility for contract financial data preparation, analysis, and other financial related duties.

This Contracts Coordinator will:

· report directly to the Director of Patient Financial Services and be part of a team with an overall count of about 30 people. Additionally this Coordinator will work closely with the CFO in all aspects of contract management and negotiations. The appropriate candidate will understand the importance of this position and invest both the time and energy to ensure a consistent high level of positive outcomes.

· be someone who is very detail oriented and has proven experience and extensive knowledge working effectively and managing high level and complex contract negotiations.

· have a proven background working effectively in the healthcare space with experience in either the hospital, medical or insurance fields.

· be committed to professional growth by being progressive, always working to stay on the “cutting edge” and will have strong computer skills and be able to work within our current hospital billing systems, which at this time are based on Meditech

Licensure and Certification:

  • N/A

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, healthcare, or related field required.

Experience:

  • Minimum (7) seven years recent employment in a hospital, medical and/or insurance field with experience in the negotiation and management of payor contracts and analytics.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Expert knowledge and experience of negotiating and managing payor contracts.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in using Excel, hospital billing systems, and other financial software systems, including report writing, that supports review and analysis of financial performance by payor.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze problematic situations and implement solutions.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates experience and knowledge of principles and practices used in the development of payor contracts, contract administration, and negotiation strategies.
