Alkon Corporation is searching for a dynamic, experienced, innovative Controller to join the team in Fremont, Ohio. The Controller will provide insightful financial guidance and analysis, cost accounting solutions and cash flow management while joining a team that values team, successes and investment in relationships, both personal and business. This multifaceted position is responsible for month-end close, and preparation/analysis of financial statements including consolidation accounting for subsidiaries and ensuring compliance with GAAP. The Controller is also the head of a team supporting accounting excellence.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead accounting and finance business objectives, develop organizational policies, coordinate functions and operations between departments or locations, and manage responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.
- This role will manage drive the development of the growth of up to four subordinate accounting and finance staff located across 3 locations both in Ohio and Michigan
- Report risk issues to the CEO, President, CFO and/or other senior executives to impact cost solutions and cost management systems
- Support the senior management team developing and establishing financial KPIs, budgets, and cost variance reporting
- Collaborate and work with other leaders from the plant floor through the executive team
- Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting at a divisional and consolidated level
- Monitor and forecast operational cash flow and establish financing facilities to ensure adequate liquidity is always available to support operations. Manage the financing of major capital expenditures
- Establish, implement, and manage critical accounting and reporting policies, processes and associated metrics
- Prepare and execute investor communications, board meeting materials and other business communication and financial reports
- Coordinate, manage and facilitate external auditor and tax relationships to facilitate completion of audit procedures and tax returns in a timely and efficient manner
- Develop and ensure all accounting activities and reporting of financial information follow established processes and procedures, and in compliance with GAAP standards
- Maintain appropriate banking records and acts as Alkon’s primary liaison to bank
- Maintain appropriate insurance records and acts as Alkon’s primary liaison to insurance company for non-employment insurance needs
- Oversee the maintenance of shareholder records
- Manage the enterprise accounting system, ensuring all updates, and maintenance requirements are executed timely and completely
Qualified candidates for this opportunity possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required. Master’s degree a plus.
- 8+ years’ experience as a Controller or Senior Financial Executive OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Prior experience as a Controller in a Manufacturing environment strongly desired
- Previous experience with cost accounting measures and systems desired
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Prior experience as a Controller with oversight responsibility and bottom-line accountability for multiple locations
- Proven experience in prior roles with active use of standard cost accounting systems to support and enhance the efficiency of manufacturing operations
- Work with complex global ERP systems
- Leadership skills including comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching, ability to inspire and build confidence in others and forge alliances and garner support
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Proficiency in basic MS Office software; expert in Microsoft Excel
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- CPA or CMA certification highly preferred

The position is Monday through Friday with occasional work on the weekends and domestic travel. This is an onsite based position, with hybrid schedule possibilities.
