General Description

Chesterfield County Public Schools supports more than 75,000 computers for instructional and business uses and operates in a Windows and Chrome operating system environment. This position manages the daily operations, projects, and resources of the Office of Technical Support Services in the Department and Division of Technology Services. Performs work under departmental policies and established objectives and works as part of the management team in the Department of Technology.

Essential Job Functions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Establish and implement ITIL standards for service delivery management
  • Promote continuous improvement of Tier 1 support and desktop administration
  • Gather and report operational metrics, accomplishments, and priorities for weekly leadership meeting(s)
  • Monitors ticket volume and performance metrics while supporting support teams in exceeding expectations, including corrective action if necessary
  • Monitors performance, metrics, and milestones for major projects
  • Maintains successful delivery of services and projects both on time and within budget through proactive team management and leadership
  • Plans and implements the division’s school technology services support policies and manages the deployment of computer hardware for the division
  • Maintains and updates specifications for hardware purchasing and replacement
  • Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs
  • Escalation and resolution of third-party software/systems issues by the support team
  • Define team goals and lead staff to achieving desired results, while being accountable for team performance
  • Work closely with contracted vendors in the support of the Chromebook 1:1 program
  • Maintain and report on inventory of all computer hardware and software
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems and deployment and service of the same; of project management techniques, human resource practices and budget management. Demonstrated use of current Windows operating environments and Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability in long-range planning and program administration; to direct professional staff members and multiple assignments with critical deadlines; to work effectively as part of a management team; to define problems and apply problem solving techniques to complex issues and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Requirements

Degree in Information Technology or related field from an accredited college or university or experience sufficient to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Valid VA Driver's License. This position requires the incumbent to drive. In accordance with Policy 5431, an employee who occupies the position and is assigned a district-owned or leased motor vehicle will be subject to annual driving checks and must maintain acceptable records pursuant to the standards set forth in the policy.
