Costume Designer/Shop Supervisor

Frostburg State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance seeks applications for a full time non tenure track position to serve as Costume Designer/Shop Supervisor.

Responsibilities: Teach introductory theatre courses as well as introductory courses in Costume Design and Costume Technologies. Design and supervise crews for university productions, mentor student designers, and work side-by-side with production teams. Supervise Costume Shop for Department of Theatre and Dance. Collaborate with costume designers and construct costumes for four shows in the 2022-2023 Academic year. Manage student workers/practicums. Manage budgeting and procurement of supplies to support costume shop operations. Maintenance and organization of equipment and costume storage. Building of costumes and guiding students in costuming techniques and procedures: draping/pattern drafting, construction techniques, stitching, alterations, wardrobe. Teaching responsibilities may include Costume Technologies, and Introduction to Theatrical Vision. (One course per semester)

Minimum Qualifications: MFA in Costume Design or related field. We are seeking applicants with interest in one or more of the following areas: costume technologies, hair and make-up, and marketing for the designer/technician.
