CRM Data and Reporting Specialist Job at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is seeking a CRM Data and Reporting Specialist to serve a key role in the institution’s constituent-based reporting from the Tessitura CRM platform. The CRM Data and Reporting Specialist will contribute significantly to the interdepartmental team which proactively moves the MFAH toward the best possible use of the application with the goal of providing a superior museum experience for our guests, members, and donors.
Working closely with Development; Marketing; Membership and Guest Services; and Information Technology to prioritize work, the CRM Data and Reporting Specialist utilizes SSRS to create reports, constituent lists, support data-driven projects, and provide ongoing data maintenance, customizations, and modifications. The Database Reporting Specialist is one of two roles at the MFAH that center on constituent reporting, analysis, and prospecting. These roles are the main points of contact for creating and troubleshooting Tessitura reports, lists, and extractions. They, therefore, work collaboratively to efficiently support institutional business needs and Tessitura end-users, all while keeping the museum’s constituents in mind.
Responsibilities
- Utilize Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and/or Appeon Infomaker to build and/or edit, enhance, and/or design reports, troubleshoot problems, and test outputs.
- Create, maintain, and debug database objects in SSMS, including but not limited to tables, views, functions, triggers and stored procedures for reporting and other support processes, as needed.
- Acquire deep comprehension of the mission and operations of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; its CRM data, and its business needs.
- Develop a robust understanding of the various MFAH constituencies and how they interconnect with the museum and each other.
- Act promptly to resolve Tessitura support tickets requesting reports, exhibiting patience while finding solutions. Act as a user advocate, working across departments to understand business needs and how Tessitura data can help solve them. Help to fine tune ad-hoc report requests, explain what data is stored, and determine output solutions to best serve needs.
- Build and maintain a productivity strategy that supports organizational workflows and recognizes that some requests must be prioritized over others.
- Proactively participate in the interdepartmental team that plans, implements, and completes all Tessitura initiatives. Contribute to this team’s efforts to ensure stability and efficient operations.
- Contribute to documenting the museum’s policies and procedures around reporting, data use and governance, and constituent privacy. Enforce organizational standards regarding access to information.
- Utilize resources, such as the museum’s Tessitura team, data processors, the internal IT department, and the Tessitura Network support desk when necessary to meet organizational goals.
- Maintain relationships with the broader Tessitura community and monitor how other peer organizations use Tessitura and reporting to improve their organizations.
- Understand and/or recommend use of 3rd Party integrations related the operations of the museum and their relationship to the Tessitura software and database. Examples of integrations include Prospect2 (email marketing) and Experian (data quality).
- Assist the data quality team by participating in data audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of records, ensuring data integrity issues are identified and proactively addressed
- Troubleshoot, import/export data and assist as necessary with SQL-based queries of the database
Requirements
- Basic understanding of the Microsoft Windows Operating System (Server & Client)
- Expertise in T-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server Suite (SSMS, SSRS)
- Proficiency in Tessitura and its business intelligence solutions.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
- Liaise closely with a wide variety of museum staff.
- Ability to effectively translate technical language to end-users.
- Strong analytic and organizational skills. Competency to tackle a problem using a logical and systematic approach.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects with competing completion schedules.
